Wow, this was perfect for a long one-shot. It would be interesting to see them down the timeline a bit. Harry isn't yet dwelling on all the bad parts but they will come up. Nice to see the differences from canon, especially Snape surviving and taking command when needed.
The scene where they went back to Hogwarts was very evocative.
I like this story, I never imagine Draco being a kiss-like person. Yet he does kiss Harry much and it shows his like/love/infatuation over Harry. Maybe it is out of boredom or just wanna a change...yet it gives me a feeling of finding your precious out of rubble and fighting tooth and nail to keep it.
I cannot imagine any easy path for them, as you said, complicated. Yet something pure and true out of the burnt ashes is always beautiful.

Harry is Draco's spar in the ocean, his reason to change. Draco may not be in love, but Harry is definitely psychologically necessary to him.
We'll see how it works out.
