What I have found in RL is if the in-laws don't like you, it won't work in the extremely long run (18+ yrs).

I do not agree. When I'd been married less than 10 years, my mother nearly succeeded in driving me away from my husband. We were separated for a year, and I and our two kids lived with her. However, I finally realized I was making the wrong choice. I chose my husband, we moved back together, and we made a commitment to not let anyone else interfere in our relationship. We had our 19th anniversary last month, and I fully intend to live with him until one of us dies.

It always depends on individual situations. My brother reconciled with his in-laws after they'd hated him for seven years.

as long as they can joke about it nothing bad can happen!
and this way they get some extra form of entertaining - like making ron wonder if draco is a vampire!
this is really cool!
and i like the style you have chosen, it gives this story so much more!
