I love this series as an adventure in homesteading, with all the same dangers and rewards. Harry of canon is a survivor, and I love that, hardened as this Harry is, he still has love and protection to give his family.
For the future, the eagles and goats have me intrigued. I wonder exactly how sentient they are, and if they will establish true communication with either species.
They're not out of food yet, but they are out of variety. That's one of the things that will make it hard to adapt to the new world: they don't have the option of going out and finding food that's different from what they've already eaten that week in a shop.

Harry is hardened because of that protective love, I think, He wouldn't care as much if he didn't, well, care as much.
The eagles and goats will have to wait because of some immediate problems that they're dealing with, but they'll show back up again.

I foresee problems with Harry and maybe Ron when they want to eat more than plants.

Harry is not particularly interested in eating more than plants; food is just food. But for Teddy's sake, he would want a more varied diet.
