I'm really trying but I just can't understand the side that says they want to treat magical creatures as badly as they like without repercussion, it hurts my head a bit. Unfortunately it does happen in real life too, I can think of a lot of people who get super defensive whenever the topic of Australian aboriginals comes up, as if wanting aboriginals to have the same living standards as the rest of the country is attacking them personally.
It's basically what they've always done. If treating magical creatures badly was a new fad, Draco and Harry would face less resistance; as it is, they're challenging habit.
And yes, that's a good example of that kind of attitude.
