I'm kind of with you on that. Draco definitely has wing envy, but obsessing on just a part of someone is disheartening. I used to waitress and men would talk to my breasts. It was flattering for about two seconds the first day only, and then it became so distasteful that I would squat and put them under the table to make them look me in the eye.

I love that the characters in this story are very flawed, though. Harry is so lonely, isolated from others because of his past, and now there is one more thing to separate him from people. Because he is so lonely he is willing to accommodate someone who doesn't respect that he deserves time and space to mourn the loss of his old body, that the things he has to carry around make life harder for him in so many ways, and someone who is mainly attracted to just a part of him and seems to dislike that he has any problem coping with what has happened to him.

Draco might be a little helpful in aiding Harry to see the beauty of the wings, though. If he does nothing else, perhaps he can hasten this. But Draco being a potions master and not a mind healer doesn't help him learn how to be good for ALL of Harry. The thing that most disturbs me about Draco's actions is that he invalidates Harry's feelings, literally shows disgust at Harry's struggles. Harry isn't allowed to feel frustration, to wish they were gone, to wish they wouldn't knock down people and things. Harry is only supposed to enjoy them!

So not only does Harry have a lot to learn, so does Draco. There is possibility for growth in both of them, which is good for any story.

By the way, I didn't acknowledge Draco's kindness. I feel bad about that. His wanting Harry to find himself to be beautiful is very kind. Just another layer, like real people.
