What a very apt title for this chapter! Draco especially is in such need of some inner strength. I'm so glad Harry has given him a second chance at starting a friendship and that Draco can now see some options for his future. And oh naughty Professor Snape, teaching Dark Arts spells to Dumbledore's favorite student!!! Tsk, tsk! ;)

Thank you! I think one of the most exciting things about this story will be tracing Draco's psychological transformations and growth. I haven't done as much of that as I have with Harry.

The one thing Snape does trust about Harry is that he isn't stupid enough to reveal that to Dumbledore. :)

Dude, you totally just made my day. XD I was really looking forward to this. XD

I was pretty shocked about Harry hexing Hermione O_O but he's "darker" XD here, I suppose.

Thank you!

The real reason Harry hexed Hermione is that she was trying to get him to give up a new possession. The burning of his possessions is going to leave him gun-shy about giving up anything else he owns.

Ahhh-- that's understandable. XD I think I would have reacted the same way if people wouldn't stop trying to take my precious things away. XD

The major problem here is going to be not only Harry's suspicions but Sirius's mental condition (I wouldn't be in the best shape either after spending more than a decade in Azkaban).

Severus will have a struggle, that's for sure!

Harry is already feeling a bit guilty that he asked for Draco's friendship because of Buckbeak, and not just for Draco alone. So yes, he'll do what he can to return the favor.

Ron will still turn his back on Harry, yes, but Draco will have his conflicts with Harry, too...

And thank you!

Enjoying this story a great deal. One of the aspects that intrigues me is little attention adults often pay to what is blithely called the formative years and just beyond. It's such a critical time because the adult that walks away once the ill-fitting skin of childhood is shed is often shaped by such things as who lies to them, how often, who can be depended on and, of course, how things are explained to a small person that wants to understand, craves the information but is kept in the dark completely by well-meaning adults. These moments may be the rule or they may be the exception but one way or the other, they will make a lasting impression.

Harry and Draco are learning lessons about the adults in their lives that will be with them for life but what I find intriguing is that Snape is also learning a few lessons of his own, in spite of his earlier beliefs.

Captivating!

Thank you!

That's an interesting perspective on the story; I hadn't anticipated this would be such a huge theme when I started writing it. But it's definitely working out that way. Their very mistrust of adults is a bond between Harry and Draco, just the way that both their being students of Snape and having similar family situations is.
