But it makes more interesting LJ entry I guess.
Today I was cruising through the parking lot at work at going slower than most people tend to, just to avoid the headache of someone backing into me. I see an SUV starting to back out, figuring they have a busted tail light since I didn't see any indication the car was even running. She starts backing out even though I'm pretty close so I hit the breaks figuring the jolting motion will cause her to stop as I've tended to observe in the past.
She didn't.
So now my right wheel well is caved in, luckily I hit the breaks before she was in line with my passenger door.
Naturally she doesn't want to involve insurance (yes, I got her info still) - to which I would normally say: too bad - but as someone who works in the same building as me, and for all I know could be of some important stature, I find it best to oblidge.
I'd rather simply not get it fixed, keep the money and donate my car as-is, but I have a feeling there will be a substantial gap between my car's value if it was fixed and what I'll get from the damage. So now I have to find a body shop and get a quote. Yay. If anyone knows of a good place let me know, please.
Meh.
