Yesterday I completed the first draft of Soul from the Supernova! It is likely the shortest novel I have ever written at just over 53,000 words. I have not yet decided if it is worth editing into something that people can read. A lot of it is nonsense and the plot is not terribly deep. Still, I enjoyed crossing fantasy with science fiction, which is not something I do often. I couldn't make the full leap to Sci-fi, though-- I'm just too attached to magic.
Now that I've finished that story I think I will go back to editing Storm of Kelmundy. I have bigger plans for that one that I have for Supernova. I made a viking vow to
meirionwen that I would complete my first real edit of Storm by the first of March, so I've got to get moving on that! I also think I might have foolishly vowed to finish my universal translation short story, which has been a year in the making already. I know, it's pathetic. The whole story will probably be a mere 5000 words but somehow the 50,000 and 80,000 word stories got written faster. Oh well. One day it will get done, I swear.
So those are my writing goals. Meanwhile, I have played a lot of Dragon Age: Origins and Sims 3: World Adventures. I've completed 13% of the DA:O Plot and played for approximately 17 hours now (according to the game). So that's getting my money's worth, for sure!
Last but not least, I thought I'd better mention I am undertaking the 56 Yellow Hardback Nancy Drew challenge this year. The goal is to read all 56 original Nancy Drew mysteries. I have purchased 4 from White Cat Books, the nearest used bookstore to the office, and I have begun with The Bungalow Mystery. It should be a fun year of mystery if all goes well!
