Grimmjow

Even though the plot isn't the best character design is awesome. And I figured out that's what I value the most in manga and anime. Damn, Bleach is my dream kingdom. ( Read more... )

The fights can't be interesting to me if they're not consistent... x_o And they so often don't make sense at all. Like, power-ups in matter of several hours.

I don't think Bleach would end anytime soon. Aizen still has to break into whatever place this King thing is residing in. *yawn* Anyway, I don't anyone still reading Bleach does it because they're interested in the plot :p

Now, you really sound like 100% bookworm. of course fights can be interesting! I love watching them, they're not boringm action action! Swordsplay and all, mawww, I love it. I don't think about consistency to be honest. And actually I am interested in the plot. And I will be reading to follow the plot as well. And believe me, I'm not the only one. There are thousands of fans of Bleach out here, you can't say that nobody is enjoying the plot.

What plot, there's no plot XD The plot in Bleach is very simplistic, and even if people say they want to know what happens next, they aren't saying "OMG the plot is so good, so twisted and convoluted and I'm sooo looking forward to the answer to the questions because there's no way to work it all out by myself". Additionally, if anyone said that, they're just incredibly dense.
Action doesn't need to mean fights all the way. A good deal of tension can be conveyed via political intrigue, stealth, visions, etc.

Well, not for me, actually I prefer fights than twisted plots etc. I much more prefer Bleach than, let's say, Persona anime. I'm just not the type to care much about the plot. Like I wrote in the entry, I care more about characters than the actual plot. And not everyone likes twisted plots and that I-oh-so-need-to-know-what-will-be-next-cause-I-can't-figure-it-myself.
Of course I'm not saying Bleach is perfect, it isn't some situations are irritating (I WILL SAVE YOUUUUU, KYYRIIIEEEEE - yeah, I know it's DMC, but just to present the approach).

And as you probably noticed my favorites series aren't that with intricate plot, well, many of what I watch and like don't have any plot at all, slice of life, I mean, and I love them. Of course Bleach is simplistic, 'cause it's shounen action manga, shounen, not seinen, therefore it's directed at younger fans who can enjoy just watching the fight and not think about timelines and shit.

The whole demographic sorting sometimes is really wonky. I mean, Pandora Hearts is also shonen (the only reason for this that I can see is 15-year-old protagonist of sort (one scary kid)) and - ta-dam! - Kuroshitsuji is also shonen (which is a major WTF). Sometimes I think everything that isn't directed to 30+ year olds is dumped into shonen/shojo, whichever feels better. xD ( ... )

Yeah, maybe maybe, but some shounen are more shounen than other shounen :P The fact that Kuroshit is shounen is hadr to accept O.o But, since I don't know it, I shouldn't comment it.
And what is 30+ ? Seinen/joisei is for people our age and older, obviously, too.
And not everything is specifies to be shoujo/shounen. Most is, that's true, but usually it makes some sense, at least shoujo.

I love slice of life :3

I'm up-to-date with Bleach manga. But I don't know if there is chap. 387 yet or not, probably there is, if there is then I haven't read it. But I managed to catch up with the manga until 386 in Dec 2009.

I know that not everything can be classified, it just amazes me that many classifications look forced.

Okay. So, what I wanted to say was: why the hell the chick who got cut in half is still alive even though it happened ~6 chapters ago?! And the time lapsed is about 10 minutes. Wtf Bleach.

If you can call it forced then that's right, that's the case. It's stupid.

Dunno, it's Bleach. I wasn't that much fond of latest chapters, at least not at THAT moment. Such things irritate me as well. Lately even I myself been wondering why I actually like it, but I do. Despite all the inconsistencies. I just enjoy mostly watching, a bit less reading. It just depends, I guess, the measure of my enjoyment can't be defined, it's just very very very random.

I understand. You are infinitely more random than me, but even I do have crappy things that I like even though I know they're trash, it's been scientifically proven that they're trash, and generally you can see they're trash from miles away. XD I'm not as crazy as to list them in my faves, though. ;) (Drizzt novels.)

There's no doubt about me being a lot more random than you are. It's hard to believe in what you're saying. I mean you call trash a lot of things that don't have to be trash at all :P

It's just that a thing must be rather high above average for me to consider it good. :) I often separate enjoyment factor from objective judgment whether something is good or not. I can like stuff of questionable quality (R.A. Salvatore, tons of A. Christie clone-like detective novels) and dislike other things (Tolkien for starters...), but still agree that they are well executed. xD
