I'm baaaaack...I really do like coming back. This is still my room; it still has my stuff, still smells like me and gives me a place to hide out and listen to really loud country music and dance in front of the full-length mirror. Ok, so I do that at school too, but people here are used to it and there's no roomie to walk in and give me an odd look.
Ellie McEllerson, back in full force from the grand U.S. Air Force (thank God for giving her back), picked me up from Omaha, where I nearly tackled her to the ground. Apparently college has turned me into a football player anytime I see people who I miss, as I nearly knocked Emily and I both to the ground when I hugged her excitedly at church. Gees, Em, coming to church and scaring me like that - that's the last place I'd look for you... ;) I knew I missed that girl, but I didn't realize how much until we landed and I realized who was waiting for me outside security. Damn glad she's back.
Anyways, we were supposed to be exploring the Mall of America right now, however, the weather systems decided to dump 20 inches of snow on Minnesota and we decided not to try our luck at traveling into the blizzard's wake, unaware of the road conditions. Which was pleasant as well, giving me the second chance since leaving school to scare the daylights out of my family by just showing up unexpectedly. Good good fun. It was a Michelle-Ellie-Laura reunion day, the trio of trouble, and we spent the day shopping and later catching up with David and Jeremy...in their new hottub. There's a welcome home.
Tonight is Sunday; for those of you outside the Star City, that means country line dancing at PlaMor ballroom, right outside of Lincoln. Ellie and I both broke down and purchased cowboy hats yesterday, as well as raunchy cowgirl-themed t-shirts. Hoedown time with the girls!
Driving home this morning, I saw a city council sign in what I'm assuming is the candidate's front yard, scrawled on crooked plywood with red spray paint - "(Insert name here) for City Council." Welcome to the Midwest.
The best part of coming home is officially the food. Chicago and E-town have excellent restaurants, but hell no, nothing beats a good cheeseburger or a Runza. I'm not really sure how I'll ever completely move away from here - I think I'll have to ship in some Nebraska beef every once in awhile or something. And I had breakfast! What a good day.
More later...NE = good and Spring Break has already blown my mind. NJ/NY update soon.
