Emiliana's elbow shoved Matthew off the bench and his back hit the floor, ow, ow, ow, ow OW. Oh shit, he was bleeding, she had elbowed him in the nose! Yeah, shouting had definitely not been the best course of action. Oh god, was his nose broken? He pinched his nose to stop the bleeding, it didn't make a cracking noise, so it probably wasn't broken, but, wow, that really hurt. He was lucky his head hadn't hit the floor, or he'd be in even more pain, he self congratulated his fall reflexes for a job well done. Except his back really hurt, if he had managed to roll or something that might have been better. Still, not having a concussion was really awesome right about now, considering he still had to, walk back to The Charleston, oh and talk to this girl to get his notebook.

Sitting up his back twinged and he inhaled between his teeth in surprise from the pain. "Yeah, uh, I am. Emiliana?" he asked in a nasaly voice now that his fingers were pinching his nose shut. He tried to wipe the blood off his face with the back of his other hand, but it seemed like he was only managing in spreading it around more.

"Uh, sorry I startled you." he said, for lack of anything else to do.

Emiliana could only stare wide eyed at the amount of blood gushing from the blond's nose before she began to panic. "Why the hell are you apologizing?! I just fucking elbowed you on the nose, idiota!" she hissed. She hadn't meant to insult him, but, what in the world was wrong with him? She had possibly broken his nose and...seriously, what the hell?

Arms flailing slightly, she looked around quickly, trying to spot a napkin or towel or something to stop the bleeding. Finding nothing, she hurriedly shrugged off her cardigan before pressing it against the Canadian's nose. "H-here," she said, pressing the sweater more firmly against his nose while ignoring the odd stares people were throwing their way.

First she elbowed him, now she was insulting him. And now she was shoving her sweater at his aching nose, "Ow!" he shouted as his tender nose cartilage was pushed down by her hand and her sweater. His fingers slipped from where they were pinching and more blood started to pour out of his nose and all over her sweater and onto his. He pulled his face away from the sweater and re-pinched his nose. She was probably just trying to be nice, but Matt couldn't help feeling a little annoyed, all he wanted was his notebook back! He didn't think it would involve getting his nose almost broken.

He turned to Emiliana to politely ask for his notebook back and then hope he never saw her again, when he saw, oh my... That was a low shirt, and... those were breasts, yup, definitely breasts.

"Uh..." wait what was he going to ask? Oh!, "Notebook!" he said outloud, blushing when he realized that he'd outwardly answered his own thought. Oh shit, where was he looking?! Her face, her face! Look at her face!

"Uh, do you have, my notebook?" he said, praying that she hadn't noticed the direction of his glance and that the drying blood smeared across his face would somehow hide his blush.

HEY, EYES UP HERE. salylimon October 8 2009, 00:35:45 UTC
Flinching back at his sudden outcry, Emiliana let go of her sweater, letting it uselessly on top of the blond's lap as she pulled away. Brow furrowed slightly, she didn't really notice the way his gaze suddenly shifted as she stared at the drying blood smeared against his face.

Hearing him ask something about a notebook, Emiliana raised her eyes up to him in reply. Lips pursed slightly, she looked at him with an almost confused expression. Notebook? What note-oh, his notebook. Hastily, she turned, looking around for the notebook she had dropped earlier. Somehow, the damned thing had ended up a little ways away from her. Though, not far enough for her to get up, Emiliana reached over, arm straining slightly as she grabbed the notebook. Narrowly avoiding having her fingers crushed, she yanked her hand back, wincing slightly as the heel of her hand scraped against the gravel.

Facing Matthew once more, she handed the notebook over with a muttered, "here, sorry" before she stared intently at his face. She could have sworn that she brought a bottle of water with her. Looking away, she dug into her bag. Finding her water bottle, she uncapped it before grabbing her sweater from the injured man's lap. Pouring a small amount of liquid onto the sleeve of her cardigan, she leaned over the man getting all up in his business, cloth pressing, this time gently, against his cheek as she frowned at him. "At least let me wipe off the dried blood," she said. "Just keep pinching your nose for me so I can do this, si?"

Accepting his notebook Matthew saw the scrape on her hand. Probably from when she had moved it against the ground to avoid it getting stepped on. Honestly, Matt was used to getting injured because other people didn't see him, but thought the two of them had made a big enough spectacle to have people actually walk around them. People should really watch where they're going he thought staring slightly angrily at the retreating figures backside. However, Emiliana's muttered apology stopped what was sure to be a long-winded mental rant.

"Oh uh, no problem." he said, blushing slightly as she cleaned the blood off his face, it was a little embarrassing being mothered by someone he barely even knew. Oh and she was using her sweater, "Sorry about that," he said indicating the cardigan, she probably wouldn't be able to get the blood out easily.

"Thanks for the notebook. Is your..hand okay?"

Glancing at her cardigan, she gave a small shrug before wiping off the remaining specks of blood. "It's fine," she replied as she pulled back, finished. "I can just wash it later, it's no big deal really."

Blinking, she stared blankly at the blond as he motioned towards her hand. Turning it over, she noticed the scratches against her palm. Oh, right. Giving another shrug, she smiled lightly at him as she shoved her water bottle back into her bag. "I think it's fine. I've had worse," she said before she pushed herself up to stand. Extending her hand towards him, Emiliana smiled sheepishly once more. "Need some help getting up?"

"Oh well." Thats good. "Anyway, again thanks for the notebook. I would have really been in trouble without it." he said accepting her help in standing. "So yeah. Thanks" he said with a smile. Looking around he noticed it was getting kind of dark. "Well I better get back home before it gets too dark... I'm, uh, walking." he explained. Suddenly fearing that not wanting to be out after dark would make him look like to much of a wuss.

"Ah, it's no problem," she replied as he stood up. Frowning slightly, Emiliana looked up at him, leaning up ever so slightly as she tried to find anything on his face that she might have glanced over.

Hearing him mumble something about it getting dark caused her to pull back and give a quick look to the side. Oh. It really was starting to get a bit dark now. How long had hey been outside? Without even having to look at her phone, she knew that getting to work on time was pretty much impossible now so she might as well make sure that the poor blond got home safely (or that he at least didn't start bleeding again). Sighing, Emiliana stared dismally at her sweater before giving Matt a weak smile, "Where do you live? I'll walk with you."

Matt saw her stare sadly at her sweater and felt a little stab of guilt. Well, what could he do about it, he'd already apologized, plus a small vindictive part of him thought it was her own fault the cardigan was ruined for smacking him in the face Even if that was partially his own fault anyway.. He was currently not acknowledging that part.

"Oh I live at The Charleston. You don't have to walk with me if its too far from where you live. Don't want you to get stuck out after dark either!" He wouldn't mind her company, but, well, if she had to walk home to he really didn't want her to feel obligated to go out of her way.

...YOU'RE SUCH A PRICK. salylimon October 23 2009, 07:21:25 UTC
The Charleston? Was he being serious? They could have just met at the damn lobby and exchanged the damn notebook instead of having to deal with this entire mess. "Really? I live at the Charleston, too. I'm on the fifth floor." Seriously. The whole (possibly) broken nose-and-bloody sweater-thing could have been avoided had they just met on the first floor of their building. But Emiliana supposed that asking for each others addresses, online for crying out loud, would have been just a bit creepy.

Giving his arm a friendly pat, she grinned up at him. "Just come back to my apartment with me. I'll make you something to eat as part of my apology," she paused. "And I'll be able to check if you're nose really is okay. My roommate, is uhm, active, so he tends to get hurt quite a bit. I'm kind of used to treating injuries, so you don't need to worry about anything." she added hastily before glancing at her sweater once more.

"...and maybe I should just throw this away." The dried blood would probably be bothersome to take out. And Emiliana really doubted that the cheap detergent she used would be strong enough to clean it completely. But, damn it, this was one of her favorites...

She lived in the same building as him. Really? No, really? Even though it was simply a product of circumstance, Matthew felt like the biggest idiot. "Oh well..." he said somewhat slowly in amazement over how much of an idiot he felt like.

"Well... I guess its not out of your way then. But, you don't have to make me food or anything, really I mean..." Wow, she was being really nice.

Matthew instantly felt bad for wishing ill upon her and her sweater. Now that he thought about it, she had been really nice about the whole incident. Even going so far as to hurt her hand. And really, how many people would have gone out of their way to return someone's notebook.

"Ah. Here," he said reaching to grab the sweater, "Let me try and wash it for you. Please?"

"No, it's fine! It's been a while since I've cooked for anyone that isn't my housemate," Emiliana replied with a slight shrug. And she supposed missing work would be okay. She worked too much and probably needed to use up her sick days, anyway.

Seeing him reach for her sweater, Emiliana grabbed his hand as she shook her head. "Really, it's fine! I'll, I don't know, I'll try and wash it myself and if that doesn't work, it's okay. I'll just get a new one." Though, that meant spending money. Money that she really did not want to spend. She realized, though, that had this been anyone else (or someone more annoying and not as timid as the Canadian) she probably would have agreed to the offer or punched him on purpose for making her spend money.

"Anyway, we should get going before it gets even darker." Grabbing his hand without a second though, she proceeded to drag lead them out of campus and toward their apartment complex.

Emiliana wouldn't listen to his protest, and her vice-like grip prevented any escape. He was going to eat her food whether he liked it or not.

"Well, but I.. uh..." He tried to think of a way to get out of the meal, but well... He couldn't think of anything to say, besides that he rather preferred... not being alone with strange woman whom he'd just met and enjoyed breaking peoples noises and... Oh god, what if she was like a psycho or something. What if all that nice stuff had been an act to get him to come to her home where she would... where she would... posion him! Or something...

What!? Crazy people did stuff like that!

But just as he decided to speak up and say something like "I've still got so much homework" or "Actually, I'm supposed to eat dinner with my brother tonight" (both of which as excuses were equally lame, but sounding lame was better than getting poisoned in Matt's book) they arrived at the apartment complex.

"Uh...." Oh, how elegant Matt. He kicked himself (figuratively).

She could hear the blond sputtering some sort of nonsense behind her as she continued to walk quickly toward the apartment complex. Turning her head slightly, she gave him a, albeit confused, smile before noticing that they had arrived.

Letting go of Matthew, Emiliana hurried over to the elevator as she noticed someone stepping out. Holding it open, she waited for the blond to get inside before pressing the "fifth floor" button. Leaning against the wall, she sighed, smiling tiredly. "I should warn you, my, ah, apartment might be a bit of a mess. My housemate works late, so he tends to leave his belongings all over the living room." And by belongings, she meant old soccer balls, jerseys, and dirty underwear for some reason. The bastard.

"...but, uhm, if it actually is dir-I mean, I can just drop off the food to your place. If you're busy, si?" Realizing that her apartment might actually be a mess, Emiliana didn't feel like having guests over if that was the case. Having people over to a messy home was just...shameless. And rude. Y muy bruto.

[*Y muy bruto: And very gross.]

They rode the elevator up Matt stressing the whole way when, yes! A chance for escape!

"Oh, yeah. I... still have a lot of homework to finish up so, if thats better for you... I mean, don't want to make you uncomfortable by being in your messy apartment. Uh, if it is messy.. I mean...Ehehe."

Wait, how had that come out wrong? Was he going somewhere with any of this? Matt honestly had no idea why all this babbling was coming out of his mouth. The elevator opened to her floor with a ding pulling Matt from his thoughts.

"Uh, so... see you later then? I'm in uh, room 441."

"Well, uhm, if you're sure. I mean, I don't mind having someone over, I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable with the mess," Emiliana replied as she pushed herself away from the wall when the elevator doors opened. However, she paused. Finger pressing the 'open doors' button to keep the doors from closing on her, she looked over to the blond. She could tell that he didn't look all that comfortable. It was probably because of her. If she thought about it, she had been a bit too aggressive in trying to apologize for almost breaking his nose.

"...though, I really want to see if your nose is okay. If you don't, ah, mind of course. I'm still really sorry and I swear I'll make you something really good to eat and bring it down to you and...ah." She was rambling now. Face starting to flush in unwanted embarrassment, Emiliana looked away to stare at the various buttons near the opened and waiting elevator doors. "Mierda," she muttered under her breath before sighing. Being nice to people after being surrounded by nothing but idiots was too damn hard.

[*Mierda: shit]
