This is not what it looks like

WHO: Berwald & Sindre
WHEN: 17th of July, afternoon
WHERE: Berwald's house
WHAT: Flower Egg looks like Tino temporarily. It's doing bad things to Berwald's sanity... and that was without Sindre finding out.
WARNINGS: There will be sex.

Berwald was lying on the sofa.

The house had felt too much like a mauseleum the times he'd come there before, and nothing had really changed two days ago when he'd discovered the... transformed Flower Egg and rushed her here. He might have felt mildly relieved to have somewhere to hide for... however long this would last.

A week. Last year, with the handcuffs and everything... it had been a week. Sure, at the time he hadn't connected with the strange dream, which he'd almost forgotten entirely, but it was too similar to the one he'd had a while ago.

He had considered this all might be a bad dream. Except it felt real, or at least like a real hallucination... he was tired of trying to figure it out. He'd just deal with things one day at a time. He'd tried to look for the... figures in the dream, but hadn't found them. Maybe they would appear next year. If so, he would... he didn't know what he'd do, really. Violence never led to anthing good, he reminded himself, trying to feel it too.

He couldn't really feel anything, at the moment. Just tired. He'd thought things were getting better, had almost been ready to answer Sindre's confession. Not that he loved him too, that was already clear, but that he dared to start a relationship with him, was together enough to risk it.

That was before he found Flower Egg had somehow turned into a twin of Tino.

Or maybe he'd just cracked finally. That seemed like the more likely explanation, really. That was another thing he couldn't be bothered to figure out.

He hoped Sindre was ok. He'd meant to talk to him about the situation but in the end he just couldn't. He felt guilty about it, in a distant sort of way.

Even Flower Egg had been understandably upset. She'd spent a long time whining disconsolately when they arrived at the house, and then stopped to touch her face in bewilderment, because it was wet with tears. Dogs didn't cry, after all. Walking had taken a while to figure out, not to mention other things...

It wasn't Tino. That much he knew. At first... best not to think what he'd felt at first, thinking it was, but that something had happened to him to strip him of his intelligence.

He was woken from his thoughts by a questioning huff and Flower Egg nuzzling his face. Even with what had happened to her, she was concerned over him, it seemed. How long had he been lying here now? He couldn't recall. He'd fed her, probably, and the door to the garden was open... but Flower Egg was a smart girl, she knew when something was wrong with him. Too bad.

Berwald raised a hand to pat her head weakly.

"'m fine," me mumbled, seeing she didn't believe him.

Flower Egg climbed onto the sofa, still awkward with her strange limbs, and settled on his side, half lying on him, curled up as much as the space allowed. She'd often did this in her real body too, so Berwald didn't mind. At least it was surprisingly easy not to think of her as Tino, if only because his mind balked at anything else in horror.

He closed his eyes wearily and put his hand on her head, brushing slowly through the hair.
