Who: Willem, Heracles, and Kiku When: Friday July 15th, late evening Where: Liberty’s Retirement Home What: With all else fails, it becomes time for drastic measures.
Not knowing what else to do, since apparently they'd taken away Kiku's cell phone, the Dutchman began to wonder down the halls checking the name cards on the outside of each door he passed as he looked for a nurses station to maybe swipe a room list from.
He went down one hallway and up another, and then paused as he noted the name he was searching for. Not quite believing his luck, he reached for the door handle.
Kiku had been staring glassily at the ceiling, listening to the sound of his new roommate snoring when Willem opened the door. He assumed it was a nurse doing the early evening rounds, and therefore did not turn his head to check his theory. At this point in the day, he was a little beyond caring about the ever present staff, or even a stray patient wandering into the wrong room.
Kiku didn't turn his head at the opening of the door, so Willem wasn't sure if he was asleep or not.He entered as silently as he could, not wanting to wake the obviously sleeping other occupant of the room, and crossed to Kiku's bed.
Upon seeing that the other man's eyes were open, he leaned over so his face was between his boyfriend and the ceiling.
"We need to get going," he said. "Not sure how long the guards will be distracted for."
Kiku managed to stifle the outburst quickly, glancing at the other occupant. Still sleeping like the dead. Only the snoring relayed that he was not actually a corpse.
At a much quieter volume, he tried again. "Willem...how did you get in?"
"The safety restraint is connected on that side of the bed. Down the side...too far for me to reach," he explained, expression darkening slightly. "They did not want me getting out and hurting myself."
Willem scowled at that, and bent hurriedly to find where the restrains were connected. He had known whoever had taken Kiku would probably have to restrain him to hold him, but actually seeing it made him want to punch someone.
Later he promised himself. As quickly as he could, he undid the restraints and helped the other man sit up.
A sigh of relief rushed from his lungs at just being able to sit up because he wanted to. A full day of restraints had taxed him both physically and mentally. But tired as he was, he knew that now was the time for flight before they were caught.
He swung his legs over the side of the bed, stumbling a bit as he tried to get his feet in the slippers next to it. The idea of escaping from here in nothing but the facility's pajamas and slippers was something less than optimal, but he had no idea what had become of his own clothing.
Willem poked his head out the door, looking right and left. Seeing no one, he motioned for Kiku to follow as he went out into the hallway.
"He's distracting the guards." he replied as he started back towards the lobby. He was supposed to text the other man when Kiku was safely out, and he was hoping he wouldn't have to go rescue the other man as well.
Kiku shuffled tiredly behind, trying to keep up and look nonchalant at the same time. He knew that at any moment one of the nurses would recognize him and realize he was out of his safety bonds, and he wanted that moment to be one where he was within sight of the exit door instead of one of the white labyrinth hallways.
For some reason, when Willem mentioned distracting guards, everything became that much more surreal.
"And sent the white knight ahead to fetch the damsel..."
Willem turned to look at his boyfriend, one eyebrow raised.
"I don't wear shining armor," he said, "and last I checked you weren't a damsel, even if you do look good in a dress."
He led the other man back the way he'd come till they reached the lobby. Once there, he gestured for the other man to stop before looking out into the lobby. There didn't appear to be anyone there.
"Let's go," he said, continuing on towards the front door.
Kiku smiled tiredly. They had not encountered anyone on their walk through the hallways. The nurses all seemed to be thankfully occupied, and there was nobody watching the front desk.
But just walking out would have been too easy. At that moment, a stocky nurse with a clipboard stepped out of the nurses' station in the front and almost walked right into the pair. A stunned moment passed, and then she settled into a glower. "Visiting hours are over. And--wait, what are you doing out of your bed, Mr. Honda!?"
He took a step back, nearly stepping on Kiku's toes, when the nurse appeared out of nowhere. He tried to stand between her and his boyfriend, hoping to keep him out of her sight, but it was to no avail.
As she advanced upon them he debated his options, and then made a decision. Turing, he scooped the other man up into his arms and made a run for it.
He let out a short yelp as the world swung into a different position, clinging tightly to Willem's neck for dear life as they barreled through the retirement home with a nurse hot on their heels.
Willem was a swimmer, a footballer, and a bicyclist, and while he usually didn't do these things while carrying another human's weight it did give him the edge over their pursuer. Out the doors they went, into the night and as far away as they could get.
After a few moments Willem slowed, turning to look behind them.

And he guessed the man was his friend now too, all things considered. Oh well, it wouldn't be the strangest one he had.
"We need to go quickly though."

He desperately hoped she did not call the police.
