Who: Chun Li and Moonpie. When: Monday evening, March 7th. Where: Some fancy watch store downtown. What: Moon is in need of a new watch. A fine young man comes to his rescue. Sort of.
Well, Chun couldn't exactly calculate the value of Liberty yet. After all, he hadn't even shopped yet! Wandering through downtown, he tried to be on the lookout for any nice clothes. He wasn't out to buy watches, because he knew that none in downtown could ever be to his tastes.
Having said that, he still couldn't help taking just a peek inside one of the bigger stores, when he saw a fellow Asian browsing beside him. Sniffing in disdain, it was obvious that the man had no idea about watches.
Chun was about to leave when suddenly, the owner of the store, a sleazy-looking guy starting to bald, approached the other man with full intent to rip him off. It wasn't so much kindness that made him stomp across the store and take the watch out of the man's hand, but more...
He couldn't let such a cheap fake be sold!
"Excuse you," he said, raising an eyebrow at the watch in his hand. "But it is not a 'nice watch'. Cheap it is, but definitely in no terms a good watch. Look here, there's barely anything holding it together!" He glared at the
( ... )
Well that was unexpected. Moon blinked when he saw some stranger grab the watch from him and speak up like that. "... Uuhh..." He wasn't even sure how to respond to what the other had just said.
Of course he knew things!
"I just need a new watch that works." he said, and frowned slightly.
The manager looked at Chun, obviously not happy about having a sale disrupted. There was a slight glare in his eyes. "This watch is a very good watch. We had it in yesterday." he informed.
If he could, he would give the taller man a hit on the head. Couldn't he see that Chun was trying to help him? Rolling his eyes, he dangled the watch in front of him. "Look at this. The backing is made with elementary glue. A week, two weeks tops and this is going to fall apart."
And then he turned to full-out glare at the storekeeper, "And you. Don't even talk. You are disgracing watches everywhere by calling this one 'good'!"
'Hmph'ing, he turned back to the stranger. "You are honestly way too gullible. And what's with this fashion sense?" He threw his hands up in the air. "Honestly!"
"Here, look at this." He pulled up his sleeve to show his brand new Omega watch, a simple but classic design with a bit of glamour mixed in. "This is a real watch."
The owner was trying to scam him? Moon frowned again, and looked at the watch one more time. "....." Yeah, it did look like it could rip apart.
Looking at the stranger's watch, he noticed a big difference between the two watches. The stranger's watch looked a lot more expensive, but was also solid and seemed like it could last for quite a while.
Chun laughed. "Oh, this baby? Got it imported from Switzerland." He smirked at the shop owner, and gave him back the flimsy watch before looking back at the stranger. "Now, I know you definitely can't afford something like my watch, but I'll find you a decent one that isn't some cheap garbage."
He led the way out of the shop, head held high and nose in the air. This was his territory. He knew this.
"I'm Moon." If this guy could show him where to find something that worked and didn't cost him his monthly salary, Moon decided to follow. Might as well if that store only sold crappy things that wouldn't last.
Hu Chun, huh? Moon didn't say anything and walked with him, seeing the sun go down in the distance. It was cold, but he didn't mind at all. It was... refreshing.
"So where are we going?" he asked, walking beside Chun.
"Well..." Chun's eyes darted around as he tilted his head.
"I don't exactly know where we are. You see, I just moved here a week ago." He spotted a department store that looked a little promising. "But let's go in there!"
Once in there, Chun babbled about brands and styles and how certain colours could be worn with anything but other shades were so inclusive and oh, it was just so hard to keep up sometimes.
"What do you think about this one?" He held up a stylish silver watch, which also held the date and time.
"But expensive is quality," Chun pointed out. "Or would you like that one over there? It's quite cheap." He pointed to the section of Dora the Explorer watches. "Yeah, I didn't think so."
Huffing, he put the watch down. "Well, I guess here's a cheaper version. Granted, it doesn't have the date on it and it's a little heavy, but it looks kind of like that one."
Dora the explorer. Really? Did he look like a freaking five year-old girl? Moon sighed, looking at the cheaper version Chun had found. That one was nice, and affordable.
The weight didn't bother Moon, he'd had heavy watches in the past. "I don't think I'll miss being able to tell the date from looking at a watch.... But I like this one." he said.
"Good choice." Chun nodded, not giving his total approval. After all, it was a good watch but... it was just kind of boring for his tastes. Then again, not everyone was as fortunate as him to be so blessed.
"Now, Moon," he stared, "What have we learned from this experience?"
He didn't give the other a chance to answer before saying, "Always, always, have an expert."
