WHAT: Someone should have dropped this class when they had the chance~
As a professor, it was never a fun nor comfortable experience to be inside a large lecture hall, standing in front of a crowd of silent students that were seemingly unwilling to participate in class.
For the last thirty minutes, there had been no raised hands, no questions, no comments, no concerns about the upcoming paper. Nothing. Save for the quiet echo of the ticking clock and the light tapping of Professor Dvořáková's ruler against the wooden podium, there was nothing but pure and utter silence. And while such a reaction to a question poised by the professor themselves would have left some of her colleagues feeling discouraged, disgruntled, or a horrible mixture of both, Professor Dvořáková only continued to smile pleasantly at her class.
She readjusted herself against the podium, absently smoothing down her pencil skirt as she gave her students another minute, another chance really, to answer her question. It was a simple one, so such a lack of response was really unnecessary and time consuming.
And yet, she continued to smile before pushing away from the podium in order to walk towards the empty table standing in front of the room, some few feet away from her original spot and currently holding her belongings. The tapping of her ruler stopped, momentarily, as she moved before starting up again as soon as she reached the table.
"Does no one know the answer? Really?" Professor Dvořáková tilted her head to the side, the ruler coming up to tap lightly against her now pursed lips. "Honestly, I hope you all do not expect me to be so forward as to answer it myself. That would mean making you all lose out on your education; I can't just spoon feed you the answers, moje miláčci."
She gave a little sigh before suddenly pointing the glinting steel ruler towards one of her students, unwavering smile still on her lips. "Mister Jones, I'm sure you know the answer to this. Now, can you please tell the rest of the class the definition of Malthusianism and its connection to eugenics and reproductive rights?"
