(
They say love is blind, but this is a god damn crime! )
He hummed gently to himself as he pushed open the doors and headed outside, confident that the two were going to fallow him. Mentally, he argued with himself with a serene smile. Even if they ran they probably wouldn't make it to his next interview so he was debating on just skipping it and going out somewhere to eat. It would be far less stressful than leaving the two alone again and they would be able to eat.
Without a word, he led the other two to one of the small restaurants down the main street. It had pretty much an international menu so Antonio wasn't worried about the other two not finding something they would like.
"How about something to eat?" He asked, holding open the door to the restaurant happily.

When they reached the restaurant, he stopped to inspect the overhanging entrance sign. International food...well at least he had some chance of finding pizza decent food here, but wasn't Antonio going for another interview?
He doubted either of them had much money to spend on expensive food, but there was no way Romano was going to last the whole day without eating anything in order to save money that Feliciano would've probably spend on wine anyway.
Directing a "are you serious" quizzical look in Antonio's direction, Romano passed him into the restaurant. If the Spaniard wanted to spend money he wasn't about to stop him.

"Well we only had ten minutes to get there and...I can always find a job somewhere else" He said with a gentle chuckle and smile in Kim's direction. Before he could say anything else, the waiter came to their table and took their drink orders. Antonio just ordered a water and decided that he would have the chicken quesadilla's. They were a cheep enough meal that he wouldn't go broke ordering them and wouldn't be hungry five minutes after they left the building.
He hummed gently to himself after handing the menu back to the waiter. He wasn't as relaxed about skipping the interview as he let on but decided that it was better not to let the others in on his feelings. He hadn't even told them why he was on such a search for a job yet.

Antonio stopped fidgeting and Romano realised that he'd been staring, snapping his head away and resuming his characteristic pout.
The waiter sidled up beside them and Romano readily took up the menu, happy to have found some way of distracting himself from the two before him. Scanning the menu he let out an almost inaudible sigh of relief.
Yes. Finally. Pizza.
Sure it wouldn't be the standard that his family's pizza was at, but Romano was more than happy to compromise for a meal that didn't include an unwanted family reunion-free of charge. Would he be able to take some back home to his brother? Left overs could get them through another meal...but it wasn't really worth it if he could get some from work anyway.
Romano settled for a small size, which clearly wasn't going to fill him up, but it was all he was really willing to spend.
The waiter took up the menus and left again, and Romano returned his attention to the Spaniard across from him. Antonio seemed much more relaxed now, but it wasn't enough to neutralise his earlier behaviour.
"Alright," His tone was almost interrogating, "Stop acting so freakin' weird, it's damn annoying. What is it?"

"What do you mean? I'm not acting weird" Antonio knew this was a weak argument if it could even be considered as such. He was so used to not having someone to tell when he was acting out of the ordinary that he almost forgot just how long he had known the other man. If anyone was able to tell his usual attitude apart from his fake one, it would be Romano. With a deep sigh, the spanish man forced himself to look up again and let his smile slip into a very small one.
"Well simply put. Mi madre is in the hospital and mi padre can't cover the bills on his own" He explained as quickly as he could. It was a fight to keep his voice level but he thought he had managed it quite well. He then shrugged and tried to put the matter aside by bringing up a new topic.
"And since when do you eat that little? A small pizza will never fill you up" Antonio said, offering a larger smile than before.

The Spaniard looked up and, almost on instinct, Romano dropped his head. It bothered him to see the man so forlorn, it just looks so damn odd. He felt like every time Antonio's good mood faded, it sucked all the life and light out of the room with it. It just wasn't normal.
"...Why the hell was that so hard to say?"
Somehow, he could understand how hard something like that would be to get through. The circumstances were different between their two families, but in the end the effect was the same.
The Italian's response to his last comment was no more than a hasty "I'm not hungry," blindly hoping that it would suffice. Sure he'd almost raided the Spaniard's kitchen that morning, and had complained since but...Antonio wasn't that bright, right?
Dammit, if only the other hadn't fed him so many damn times.

It wasn't like the Spaniard would have stopped him either way.
"And if she doesn't that mean's I'll be going back home for good. Probably not coming home from this trip" He looked down at his hands. He honestly didn't want to head back home to live because that would mean leaving everything he had come to love so much in America behind. He let out a deep sigh and was extremely thankful when the waiter came with their food, setting each plate down in front of each respective person.
Without another word, Antonio picked up one of his quesadilla's and biting into it. He really hoped that neither of them would push any farther. Of course, he almost burned his moth because of the meal having just coming out of the oven but he didn't care.
Antonio hadn't even admitted to himself out loud that there was a chance he might not be coming home from this trip. Now that he had he just wanted to go hide in a hole somewhere. However, that wasn't like him and thus he would push on and thus resuming the humming that song he had been humming previously.

The phrase looped itself over and over in his head, each repetition bringing with it more conviction that Antonio would not be returning from Spain at all.
And just like that, the fears he'd tried to suppress at the bathhouse came rushing back with such intensity that Romano half-expected the Spaniard to be called away at any moment and told that things would not get better.
But he didn't yell this time, or scream or punch the other for being such a god damn selfless jerk.
Palms pressed against his thighs, fisted hands clawed into skin as Romano desperately restrained himself from reacting, from hinting that he was in any way, shape or form affected by this news.
Inhale, exhale and release. He sighed, bringing his hands back to the table's surface to pick at a pizza that had long lost it's appeal.
The fact that the other was humming only angered him further..to think that someone could announce something like that and still be able to smile and pretend everything is alright..
Romano picked up a slice and inspected it, he mind filtering all but that god damn incessant humming. A lone anchovie rolled off the pizza and onto the floor, followed by half of the topping onto the table.
Great. This wasn't pizza. This was bullshit...and Antonio was still...
Fuck. He couldn't take it anymore. Dropping the slice, Romano abruptly slid his chair back, standing up with both hands planted hard on the table.
"Would you stop acting like everything is fucking alright dammit! It's such god damn bullshit."
Dammit why was this affecting him so much? If he stayed any longer he was going to start crying again..
In order to protect his dignity (or so he told himself) Romano turned and stormed out of the restaurant in a string of fast and colourful Italian.
