Thankfully, Valdi had been able to sleep that night. With all the mentions of weird dreams and people acting strangely, let alone the chance meeting with Raivis, Toris and Zhi that couldn't possibly have just been a coincidence ( ... )

I just wanted to watch you sleep, broth--oh god I sound like Natalia talks_to_nisse November 12 2010, 01:47:44 UTC
At the sound of Valdi's voice, Sindre's head shot up. He winced the slightest bit as he met Valdi's eyes. The last thing he had wanted to do was wake his brother up.

He knew coming in was stupid. He knew Valdi was fine, that it had all been a dream and there was nothing to worry about. And now his fear and irrationality had dragged his brother into the aftermath his nightmare undeservedly. Not to mention that he probably just seemed creepy, staring at Valdi in the dark.

Shaking his head, Sindre pushed himself up from where he'd slumped against the wall. "It's nothing, I'm fine," he responded, trying to downplay his presence in Valdi's room. "I didn't mean to wake you. Go back to sleep."

He stayed against the wall for just a moment longer. But if everything were indeed fine, then he'd have no reason to still be in the room. He had to force himself to leave, to let Valdi out of his sight, but he did manage to move away from the wall and towards the door.

This, this was all too familiar.
It was a routine they had played out every day for the past year; and they held to their parts so well that the rest was almost always predictable.

Almost.
"You're not fine, are you?"
Valdi spoke before he had time to register what he was doing, watching Sindre with a kind a determination that was foreign even to him.

A moment for his mind to catch up and the boy recoiled slightly, evidently unsure of himself, but he swallowed and pressed on. It was now or never.

"If everything was fine then you'd be asleep now, you wouldn't come home beaten up, You-"
He swallowed again. He hadn't meant to accuse Sindre, hadn't intended for the outburst at all. Valdi knew it wasn't like him and it wasn't fair for his brother but, frustration overpowered common norm.

He took another moment to try and relax himself. Breathe.
"Why," Why is this so awkward? "Why won't you tell me anything?"

So, there were alternate endings for this, sorry it took so long ^^; talks_to_nisse November 18 2010, 14:20:48 UTC
Freezing in the doorway, Sindre turned back to Valdi at his brother's question. Forcing a pleasantly neutral cast to his face, he tried to regain better outward control. "I am fine," he began to lie, keeping his voice as soothing as he could so he could try and extricate himself from the bedroom. But Valdi's next question caused his current line of thought to vanish ( ... )

Ahah rushing before work >< puffin_magic November 18 2010, 23:26:44 UTC

Valdi fell completely silent. He had acted brashly, and wasn't even considering the possibility of a counter-attack or response.

Hands folded deceptively calmly in his lap, he set his gaze on the faintly worn sheets now kicked to the end of the bed.
Had the entire year just been a complete misunderstanding? Most likely.
Did Sindre have every right to be angry? Definitely.

At the mention of the dream he flinched slightly, looking from the bed to his brother, and back again.
One sequence- one nightmare- had been realistic enough to prompt Sindre's presence in his room? Just to make sure that-

Maybe Berwald was right. Of course he was right.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry for...saying that."
He had overreacted, and almost landed them both in an unnecessary argument.
"I didn't know who they were, the people who were selling Puffin. They just said they were-"

Wait.
Sindre knew?Valdi's head snapped up, eyes searching his brother with a sense of guilt and mortification, before his whole body seemed to sag and he looked away again ( ... )

It's fine~ I just took, what, nine days to respond? talks_to_nisse November 28 2010, 03:58:12 UTC
"Of course you didn't know you were getting involved with the mafia," Sindre responded tartly. "I didn't think you did so on purpose. But you should have told me. That way I could have taken care of it sooner." He set a hand on Valdi's shoulder. "Promise me you'll tell me when you're in trouble. Any sort of trouble. Money, school, mafia--anything. I'll do my best to help you out. 'S what I'm here for."

Sindre let out a humorless laugh. "That's what happened one of the times I came home a bit roughed up. I was dealing with the remainder of Puffin's payment. The other time..." he shrugged a bit awkwardly. "Søren and I just...fought.

"I didn't want to worry you, I guess," he continued, shaking his head. "But I did anyway. I'm sorry."

Almost one month! /hifive puffin_magic December 23 2010, 06:55:25 UTC

Valdi twisted himself around to leave the bed, inadvertently turning to face his brother.
He knew Sindre wasn't just saying these words to make him feel better; that - come hell or high water- he would do everything in his power to help him out.

But, hopefully-
Valdi managed a smile; it was god knows what hour of the morning after all..

"Hopefully it won't come to that."

Sindre had to huff out a laugh at that. "No, hopefully it won't come to that again. Once is enough."

Running a hand through his hair to gain a bit of grounding, Sindre pushed himself to continue on. "I'll try to be more open with you," he offered. "I honestly might not think to say something, but if you ask me, I'll do my best to answer."

Feeling his brother turn towards him, Sindre reached out and tugged him fully into a hug. Pressing his lips to the top of Valdi's head in not-quite a kiss, he whispered,

"Jeg er glad i du."
