WHEN: Thursday, September 16, Early Morning.
WHERE: On the fire escape by Emi's window
WHAT: He couldn't throw rocks up at her window but a spanglish birthday serenade on the fire escape is just as good!
Ok, so his first plan didn't work.
Who knew trying to throw rocks up 5 stories would prove to be so difficult? It was never like that in tv shows! And there was never a Danish guy to accidentally pelt with said rocks either! A particularly intimidating Danish guy who happened to end up spilling his gallon of milk after receiving said rock pelting.
A particularly intimidating and now angry Danish guy who was very unforgiving and forced Loto to run down to the store and buy him...several more gallons of milk.
Despite Loto being dirt poor.
Now 30 minutes behind schedule Loto booked it for Emi's apartment, remembering that she had a fire escape outside her window. Not that he would know through like, personal experience. Jared must have told him about it. Yep. Definitely Jared.
Hastily climbing up the fire escape(a fire escape that didn't exactly feel stable mind you) Loto hung on for dear life wasted about 15 more minutes trying to crawl to the top managed to get to her window in one piece. The subtle scent of cinnamon that wafted from the room was evidence enough that he was in the right place.
Digging through his rucksack for a moment to find his instrument (a tin can and a spoon) Loto knocked on the window repeatedly before leaning back on the rickety fire escape railing with great caution. Hoping that Emi hadn't left for work just yet he had his instrument at the ready to serenade the sun kissed birthday girl a traditional song that wasn't 'Happy Birthday', but something called Las Mañanitas.
Oh yeah. This was happening. All those weeks of learning Spanish from old episodes of Dora, all those early mornings jotting down shorthand notes, they were all for this one defining moment.
