Oh, bloody fantastic.

Another one. It was another annoying, stubborn, loudmouthed patient that Olivier did not want to deal with tonight. Fighting back the urge to grit his teeth and scowl, Olivier shook his head in response.

"The wound isn't so severe that you'll need many stitches, but even from where I'm standing I can tell that it's deep enough that just bandaging it up would not help at all." Olivier paused, raising his eyebrow as he looked the man over. "Unless, of course, you would rather allow it to possibly get infected, just so it can land you in the hospital once more." Another pause and Olivier glanced away, idly examining the faded hospital posters taped to the wall on his left.

"This would mean," he continued after a moment. "That you would have to miss even more work."

The Cameroonian looked over at the man once more. "Now, I can stitch that up in less than fifteen minutes, have a doctor prescribe you some pain killers, and have you out of the hospital in thirty or forty minutes. Or, if you'd like, you can go home and risk severe illness. It's your choice, Mr. Adnan."

Sadiq was sizing Olivier up. It wasn't that he was looking to see if the guy would be able to grab him if he decided to get the fuck out for whatever reason. He was actually more or less trying to get a grasp on the guy's character, since he didn't find the last few statements to be something a nurse would say to their patient, normally. Instead of getting flustered, however, Sadiq was more or less... impressed. He couldn't find any suitable argument against that flat tone, so subtly laced with distaste.

All it took for the Turk to accept someone was some honesty and a nice kick in the rear.

Feeling much less defensive, Sadiq loosened his tense limbs, slouching forward and leaving his palm face-up for the nurse to tend. He knitted his brows together - no one looks forward to these types of things, but some were better at hiding it. Resigned, he didn't really care now.

He trusted Olivier to get the job done without lallygagging; a word he usually associated with the male species of nurses. It was as if they all felt the need to overcompensate their lack of breasts with an annoyingly cheerful output, faces lit with a smile as they went about their business. Unlike those poofs, Sadiq could say that he trusted this guy to an extent. And with the earlier retorts implying of future infection, his mouth was stubbornly shut. "... Make it quick."

Choosing to ignore the way the man was looking at him, Olivier continued to keep his gaze as nonchalant as possible as he mentally went over the materials he would need to proceed with the stitches.

A man that worried and complained about missing work, such as Sadiq Adnan, would readily give in with some, ahem, proper encouragement. Something similar to what Olivier had just uttered.

Really, it was all for the patient's betterment.

Hearing the man give his consent, Olivier bit back a smug smile as he nodded. He made quick work of gathering up the needed materials before making his way back towards the dark skinned man. Carefully, he grasped his hand and made sure to thoroughly clean off the remaining traces of bloods before he reached for the thread and needle.

Examining the wound, he nodded to himself before sliding the needle into the man's skin.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. And six.

Six stitches and he was done.

The process was simple enough, truth be told. Though the alcohol burned as it touched the open wound, Sadiq remained rather obedient; the only sound he made were hisses and sharp intakes of air. It wasn't the usual colorful vocabulary that left his lips this time, even with the unbearable discomfort of someone touching his cut, which was already so sensitive. Either he trusted Oliver, or he had just been put in his place with words that were said so nonchalant.

Next was the needle, the part he was actually dreading less. Cleaning the wound hurt his pride, but sewing it up he could deal with more. Only one long inhale, and Sadiq remained relatively relaxed for it, though he did close his eyes. Once stitch, two stitches... He lost count at three, but before he could inquire about how many more were left, they were done.

Sadiq blinked, turning his hand over and looking at it as if it had been molded into a fin. "Done? Do I get a sucker or somethin' now?"

SRSLY. IF I DON'T RESPOND IN TWO DAYS, FEEL FREE TO SCREAM AT ME. ;A; paix_et_makossa September 28 2010, 04:22:49 UTC
Olivier almost had to resist the urge to both roll his eyes and chuckle in bemusement at the man's comment.

Really, some of the patients he'd had to handle that came in with similar injuries were either sobbing hysterically, a bit prissy, or ungrateful. Of course, that wasn't to say that the majority never thanked him. But he's had a few nasty run-ins before.

Carefully disposing of the needle, he eyed Sadiq with an amused stare before responding. "I'm sure I could ask one of the nurses or doctors in the pediatrics ward. But I'm not sure how they would react upon hearing that it's for an adult man. I could always ask, I suppose."

Why was he smiling? Sadiq didn't recall doing anything amusing, and he gave the man a steady stare in return (whatcha gonna say 'bout it?). Somehow over the course of his life it seems he has grown suspicious of grins, wary that they were mocking him or something of the sort. Oliver was his nurse, but perhaps he was right about dudes judging others for their wounds. "Get me some damn candy or I'm telling the doctor about how awful ya were. I put up with your pocking and prodding, so I deserve something sweet, right?"

His frown came across as childish, particularly for a fully-grown man such as himself. As an afterthought, Sadiq tagged on a question that was a little off the topic of candy, "How long before I can tear these out with the scissors?"

Eyes narrowing, Olivier waved off the look of contempt that threatened to overpower his face as he looked the man over. Huffing, he quickly jotted a few notes down for the doctor before addressing the irritating man.

"If you want some candy, sir, then perhaps you should take up my suggestion and drop by the pediatrics ward. But a grown man asking for candy is suspicious and reason enough to call security, I would believe. Or," Olivier eyed him with a bemused yet annoyed look. "If you still can't understand, the candy here is for children only, Mr. Adnan."

Pocketing his pen, he gave a small shrug. "A week or two tops, I would think. The doctor will be in here soon to prescribe you something for the wound. You can double check with him."
