Alfred had been hanging around the coffee shop in a vague hope he would see Lenna again and wasn't really doing much but reading over some files he had procured over the day, newspaper articles, whatever else pertaining to fighting crime.

There wasn't much. He sighed, picking up his coffee, vaguely thinking he should've put more honey in, his eyes flicked up and he almost spat the bitter drink back into the cup. Instead, he swallowed hard past the lump in his throat.

Omg. What was he going to do? Sneak out? Maybe she didn't recognise him, but she was starting right at him... Maybe he should make a run for it? Pretend he didn't know her?

Beg forgiveness?

He felt his hand leave the table and wave at her.

stupid.stupid.stupid.

It seemed like he had recognized her as well. Either that or he was just being friendly. Or waving to someone behind her. Kim finished the drink and got up. Should she go over there or leave?

Leaving was very tempting, but he'd seen her now. If she just left, it would look odd. It wasn't like she wanted to hit him either, she already did that when they were younger. The reason behind their fight back then was sort of forgotten by now, yet it felt pretty awkward seeing him again today.

All she could do now was just..... wave back...

"Hey Kim," he said, quickly standing and minimizing the window with details (he would have to talk to Lenna about them). "It's been a while, you wanna... sit or something?"

Sit? Was he crazy? She would hit him or something... Oh well, he was here to mend some bridges, Kim is a good person to start with.

Would she like to sit? Kim almost had to think about that, but she nodded and sat down, still unsure of what to really say. What had happened back then was a long time ago. No need to dwell on things, right?

Hopefully he wasn't still that cocky jerk he'd been like before...

".... So... How you been?" she asked after a couple of minutes. Might as well start a conversation, and try to not have it end in some sort of violence. That wouldn't look too good to anyone else.

Alfred's hands clenched around the coffee cup. "I've been really good. Staying now, for longer this time. Boarding with Mattie and stuff and takin' some classes at the university."

This was going to be so awkward. This was the girl he had treated like... Well like a jerk treats a girl. "What about you? Had... A good couple of years?" After you basically chased me from your house with a paddle?

It was pretty awkward, so awkward you could feel it and probably cut through it with a knife.

"Yeah, pretty good..." she said, before she leaned back in the chair, getting more comfortable. At least trying to. Being comfortable and awkward never worked...
Alfred looked more mature, but did he act more mature now? The last time she really spent any time with him, before their fight, they were barely 16. Young, innocent and just wanting some fun.

"University? Which one?"

"The only one in town? Liberty University," Alfred sipped his coffee, averting his eyes. "Are you going there? Taking stuff?" Man, four years was a long time and Kim had only gotten prettier... His eyes drifted over her, not lecherous merely looking.

Eyes flicked to the screen and he quickly shut it, shoving the laptop to the side. Alright, fixing bridges. Soon.

"Yeah... I'm starting my second year there this fall. Art and design, but I'm thinking of maybe switching to something else. I haven't decided yet, but I'm considering." Kim admitted. Sure, she enjoyed art and design, but perhaps it was better as a hobby.

Alfred had been pretty good looking back in high school. And he still was, if not even better looking now. Not that that meant anything of course. To Kim, he was nothing more than a horny teen who needed a good kick in the nuts.

Nodding slightly, Alfred swallowed. "You were always really good at art," he said diplomatically, smiling at her, "all those pictures you drew were so nice and detailed..."

Oh man. He had complimented her. And not spoken about boobs or condoms. Man, he was getting better at this by the day!

"Haha, thanks." Kim said, a small smile in return. So far, no stupid perverted jokes. Not bad, Jones... Not bad... Maybe she should count the seconds and see how long it would take if he DID come up with one.

He had grown out of that habit, right? Four years was a long time, people could change a lot in four years...

"What're you gonna major in?" At least education wasn't too awkward to talk about. It was a nice start...

He was still an idiot though. Friendly and admittedly handsome, but an idiot.

Alfred shrugged. "I really haven't decided on anything... Maybe computer sciences, but definitely not math... I still can't add worth shit." he laughed slightly, "I mean, I'm not really excellent at anything."

Okay, he was good at kissing. But that was not the thing to mention.

Kim had to laugh a bit at that. She knew it was true, the part about the math. While they didn't exactly do too much homework together, the little they'd done proved to her that math wasn't his best subject.

"Computer science could probably suit you... You still like it, right?" she asked, remembering him doing things on his computer. She was almost surprised she hadn't ever seen him use it to watch porn. Although he was probably just careful when she was around.

And she was honestly a little curious on how his life was now...

Alfred nodded. "I'm still pretty handy with a computer!" he said, letting his fingers drift over the case in a slightly loving manner, "It's like man's best friend. I've got everything on here! I mean... It's everything I need, if I lost it, I'd be so screwed..."

Look at me, dissing your diet~ lotusvivi July 27 2010, 19:13:21 UTC
"Wow... That's pretty intense." Kim said with a little laugh. "I can understand it though. The computer's pretty necessary nowadays."

Some people really got dependent on some things. Kim shouldn't talk though, if she lost her own computer she'd probably freak out as well. One thing struck her mind. Alfred had always liked junkfood. Maybe too much of it, but he never seemed to gain any weight from it. It was pretty odd. Did he have some weird weightloss secret?

"Are you still eating all that junk by the way?"

Alfred looked a little shocked. It wasn't junk! It was affordable. "Yes I am," he said, sniffing slightly, "and it's still delicious and yummy and way better no matter what you say."

A small smile spread across his lips. "Remember you'd try to feed me rice and I'd almost run away screaming?" And then when you finally caught me I'd demand sex as an incentive?

"It doesn't change the fact that it's unhealthy and bad for you." Kim pointed out, even though she knew he knew already.
When thinking back on those times, she kept back a laugh. Seeing his face when she tried feeding him healthier dishes was always funny.

"Yeah. It was like I'd suddenly put a snake up against your face. I get that some people hate vegetables, but.... Really, one would think you were scared of them. I still don't get how you can be so fit and still stuff your face with all that junkfood."

Surely, she HAD eaten a burger or two while seeing him, but that was about it. Kim had always preferred Vietnamese food, and especially the food her mother cooked, and later her own cooking as well.
