WHO: Matt, Zhi, party guests and party crashersss.
WHEN: Thursday, July 1st, late afternoonish
WHERE: Matt's apartment
WHAT: Time for a joint party celebrating the 21st birthday of Zhi and... who, again?
The day had been relatively uneventful so far. It was the day he turned 21, the day he could legally drink, and as far as he was concerned, a day Zhi was perfectly content to spend gaming in his room. At least, that was what he would have done if he and Matt hadn't found out they shared the same birthday (through TeddyLove's "upcoming birthdays" list). Celebrating together with one of his few friends would be more meaningful than having pixellated battles again people he'd never meet, after all.
And now, Zhi found himself in Matt's apartment, having gone over early to his friend's house to help prepare for the party. With a small "happy birthday, Matt", a wrapped present was handed to him upon entry. In it was a
maplewood-bound sketchbook Zhi had found in Crystal Court, which he decided on, after much stalking looking through Matt's blog posts. The price wouldn't have had been very friendly on his wallet at all; thank god for all the 利是s he had gotten in China.
"I wasn't really sure what to get you, sorry.." Zhi trailed off apologetically. Picking presents was easily the worst part of birthday celebrations, and he had spent a good while in Crystal Court with its overpriced everything just trying to decide what to get. Not wanting to ponder on 哎呀, what if he doesn't like it?, he briskly went about getting things ready for the party alongside Matt. The kitchen and the living room were alternated between, his mild OCD driving him to doublecheck the preparations so far, multiple times, before he flopped onto the couch for the sole purpose of checking the time. "Guests should be starting to arrive, soon," he noted, turning to look at Matt. "What else do we have left to do?"
