There is my samurai...! )
"Ahum..." He harrumphed, discomfited by the sight of the strange girl's tears. After scanning her over quickly to see there was no sign of serious physical damage (he was relieved to find there was none), Berwald decided he'd rather deal with the assailant first.
That decided, he pushed her aside gently, and stepped towards the unpleasant looking man.
"Saw that camera, gimme it. Now." Berwald said in his most threatening growl, holding his hand out and hoping he wouldn't need to use actual violence. Bandit Chief hesitated, but after Berwald glared at him some more, he handed the camera over reluctantly.
Berwald gave it a disgusted look, and then threw the camera to the ground, disregarding Bandit Chief's indignant shout.
"Ya better not try that again," Berwald told him darkly. "Now scarper."

Bandit Chief stared at his broken camera with lament before he, indeed, scampered off. Though the last look he gave Mei told her that it was not the last she would see of him.
She quickly ran over to the camera and picked it up, making sure that it was really broken. Then she opened the memory card slot and took out the memory card. No way in hell would she ever let ugly pictures of her end up on the internet.
Pocketing the card, she turned to the tall man and swallowed the dreamy sigh that was threatening to slip from her.
Timid, she said, "T-thank you. I wouldn't know what to do if you haven't come..." She brushed her hair behind her ear and looked down at her feet. Why was her heart beating so quickly? Okay, so this man was ridiculously good-looking, but it's not like Mei had never seen hot white men before.
"Oh, I-I'm Mei by the way... And you are...?" Unable to hold it in, she let out the sigh, eyelashes fluttering.

It made his hackles rise up, in a sort of uncomfortable embarrassment.
She took a small step even closer, and Berwald backed away, one arm rising slightly out of instinct. The one with the pruning saw he'd forgotten all about, as it happened, and Berwald looked at it, half surprised. Then, in a split second decision, he held the saw out to the girl.
"Take this," Berwald said gruffly. "J'st...in case he comes back or...dunno. An'...don't use 'ny dark alleys, 'k?"
With that advice, he made a hasty escape, not even noticing he'd forgotten to introduce himself as asked, so glad was he to get away from the girl with the ominous spark in her eyes.

"T-thank you," she called out. "THANK YOU, SIR! Thaaaaaank yoouuuuu!"
She looked down at the present and sighed. Hugging the saw, she hurried out of the dark alley and into a future where heroes truly existed.
