WHO: Remy and Moon WHEN: Saturday at noon, March 27th. WHERE: Park bench. WHAT: Firefighter gets vacation. What does he do? Sleep like he should? No, he goes to buy food. And suffers the consequences.
Worried Remy is worried.remyleeMarch 27 2010, 07:17:39 UTC
It was a truly gorgeous day. Not as warm as Remy was used to, maybe, but the sun was shining brightly, and the sky was an almost impossible shade of blue. It was not a day to stay inside. Remy and her favorite four-legged walking partner had set out to the park to enjoy the long-awaited arrival of spring.
Remy was softly singing to herself, and the always appreciative Hudson, when she rounded a corner and saw another figure up ahead. He was the first person she’d seen in the park other than herself all morning, and he really must have been dragging, she surmised, as she and the dog were quickly gaining on the man from behind.
Coming closer, Remy realized the man she’d been following wasn’t some random stranger, but Moon. Conner’s.....err.....Frenemy. She’d just spoken to him the night before (and possibly caused a fight between him and her brother) and was about to call out to the dark-haired man when he suddenly stumbled. She nearly laughed, thinking he’d merely tripped on the path, but her mirth died in her throat when he fell face first in the dirt and made no move to get back up.
“Moon?” She called, speeding up her steps in worry. “MOON?!” She broke into a run when he didn’t respond or move in any way. Reaching the man, she knelt beside him, placing a hand on one of his shoulders and gently pushing at it. “Hey, Moon! You okay?!” She asked, sincerely hoping it was only a prank. No answer. She pulled on his shoulder, turning him so she could see his face, seemingly slack with sleep “Moon, hey, come on. Not funny.” She gently shook his shoulder again.
No answer.
“Hey! Come on..." She pushed his prone form all the way over, until he was lying on his back, beginning to panic a little. She tried to remember what on Earth a person was supposed to do when somebody passed out. All that came to mind was the obvious - she leaned her ear close to his face, listening. Still breathing, Good. She could feel a pulse in his neck, also good. Hudson helpfully sniffed the man’s hand, and thumped his tail, looking at her expectantly. “Thanks,” she mumbled sarcastically. “Remind me to never have a medical crisis with only you around.” The dog, always appreciative of praise, even when it was nonexistent, barked once, happily, and set up a rhythm against the ground with his tail.
So, Moon definitely wasn’t dead. Remy decided. Only unconscious. That helped her rising panic a little. He was breathing, so he wouldn't need CPR. Not that she thought she could manage properly if he did; rather, she'd likely re-fracture his ribs and make it worse. She had a cell phone, she was a teenaged girl for heaven’s sake, so if needed, she could call 911 for an ambulance. Somehow, she doubted Moon would appreciate the gesture if this turned out to be less serious than it seemed. He’d regaled her just last night, after all, with tales of the multiple and serious injuries someone could obtain in his line of work. That thought served to equally calm and agitate the girl. Whatever this problem was, the tough firefighter could probably handle it. But on the other hand, maybe all his past physical damage had caught up with him, and this was more serious than any one injury?
Remy shook her head to dispel those thoughts. Whatever was wrong with the unconscious man, sitting here fretting about it wasn’t helping the situation at all. She’d try waking him up, Remy decided. And if he wouldn’t wake, she’d call for paramedics, and if it upset him, the man could just deal with it, because she certainly wasn’t just going to leave him lying unconscious in a park, regardless of what her brother might say.
Remy grasped the man’s broad shoulder again and resumed shaking him, rather less gently than before, though not hard enough to do harm if he really was injured. “Hey, Moon, you gotta wake up, sweetie. C’mon now, sleeping in parks is fully bogus.” He still wasn’t really responding. She shook a bit harder and lightly tapped the unconscious Mongolian’s cheeks with her free hand, leaning close to watch his face for any movement. “I mean it, hon! Now you need to wake up, sweetheart.”

The ground was rather comfortable, even if it was a little cold. The sun was warm of course, so it helped the ground warm up as well. Moon felt some odd movement, and was that a voice in the distance?
Was this some weird dream?
" Nnnn...." Finally he managed to open his eyes a little. " Uh?" he looked up, his head spinning and his eyes not really in focus yet. And now he heard the voice a bit clearer as well, and saw the person it belonged to.
Baby siter cares. Now that he's awake, outrageuosly long posts aren't needed, yeah?remyleeMarch 27 2010, 18:40:26 UTC
‘Remy?’
“Thank God,” She sighed in relief, visibly relaxing as tension she hadn’t realized had built was released from her shoulders and neck. Moon was awake and mentally clear enough to recognize her, that had to be a good sign. “You scared the daylights outta me there, Moon.”
Her hand, which had ceased its light slapping and come to rest softly on the man’s cheek when he started to show signs of consciousness, instinctively migrated to his forehead, as though knowing his temperature would do any good at all at this point. “You okay, honey? What happened anyway? D’you need me to call a doctor or someone...?”
Pffff, " baby siter"...." BABY SITTER" 8D And nope, they're not~vicious_wolfMarch 27 2010, 21:26:25 UTC
Sitting up was a tough task, but he managed for now. Moon rubbed his temples, trying to will the tiredness away, and it worked for a few minutes. " You don't have to get a doctor. I'm just very tired." he said, and sighed, looking at her. And the dog. " Yours?" he asked, rubbing it as it sniffed curiously at him.
Moon smiled a little bit, before yawning. Fuck, he was exhausted....
" I should've gone to bed instead of doing paperwork...."
lol Baby siSter cannot type.remyleeMarch 27 2010, 23:29:53 UTC
Once Moon was more or less upright, Remy somewhat self-consciously took her hand off his shoulder, thinking how ridiculous it was for her to have kept it there, worried that he’d fall again, as he sat up. He was a grown man, she scolded herself, and she didn’t need to baby him that way.
“Yeah, this is my Hudson.” She gave the huge dog a pat. “I think ‘tired’ may be an understatement here, babe. You totally just face-planted in the dirt. Did you fall asleep mid-walk, or something? ‘Cause that was a pretty hairy wipeout for dry land.”
It was actually a wonder he hadn’t scraped himself up, Remy thought, taking a closer look at his face. He looked awful, like the poor guy hadn’t slept in a week, but no scrapes or cuts were visible from the fall.
She rolled her eyes at the paperwork comment. “Ya think?” Then sighed. Sarcasm wasn’t going to help anybody. “How far away from here do you live?” she asked the man, thinking it’d be better for him to be at home right now. “What possessed you to go walking when you’re this tired, anyway?” She continued, without giving him a chance to answer the first question. She sometimes got like that when she worried. It was impossible to get a stressed Remy to take life one step at a time.
" My fridge is empty...." he said, blushing and grinning sheepishly. Thinking about it now, it would've been better to've just slept and gone shopping when he woke up. He was just too stubborn.
Giving his face a little rub, he sighed, and rubbed his eyes as well. Maybe a nap on that bench would help him gain some energy. So he got up, swaying a bit, and went over to the bench, sitting down.
His fridge.... Remy sighed again "y'know, they invented this thing called 'takeout.' If you're starving and exhausted, people can bring food to you."
Remy stayed at Moon's elbow as he made his way to the bench; not bold enough to impose her help on him, but not entirely trusting that he wouldn't fall again, as he swayed drunkenly, and all but collapsed onto the park bench. Getting off the ground was a good plan. It had been the next part of her plan, and it seemed like Moon was on a more sluggish, groggy version of the same page.
She perched next to him on the bench. She knew she was hovering, and some people might find it annoying, but Moon's collapse had really worried her, and she'd taken it upon herself to make sure he made it back home in one piece.
He'd never answered her first question, not that she'd given him the opportunity, so she gently pried again "Moon, how far away is your house, hon?"
" My house is over on Ocean View." he said. How far was that again? His eyes fell heavy again, and before he noticed, he'd slipped sideways. Head on Remy's lap, and eyes closed, he was asleep again. But this was better. His friend's lap was much more comfortable than the dirty and hard ground.
It probably looked weird, a grown man curled up on a park bench like this, but right at this moment, he couldn't care less. He was tired, and just wanted a little nap before heading home and getting some proper sleep.
Poor sleepy Moonpie. Pff and I said this was gonna be quick.remyleeMarch 28 2010, 10:49:47 UTC
Ocean View.... Great, she had no idea where that was. Halfway through mentally cursing her navigational impairments, Remy jumped when something unexpectedly hit her leg, and nearly panicked again when she found Moon had collapsed a second time.
Remy took a closer look, realizing the man was breathing deeply, his face relaxed in sleep. She smiled softly down at the exausted Mongolian in her lap, and brought her hand to gently brush his long, dark hair out of his face. "Poor, tired thing." she cooed quietly, knowing she sounded ridiculous, but unable to stop herself.
She settled back on the bench for what seemed like it was going to be a long sit. Likely all Moon needed was a rest to get him back on his feet, and she wasn't one to begrudge a friend in need a quick nap with part of her as the pillow. Hudson wandered over to lay beside the bench to keep watch over his owner and the sleeping man.
Before long Remy was absently stroking Moon's hair and humming soft lullabies, whiling away the afternoon as he slept on in peace.
Teehee~ You can't resist the manry cute.vicious_wolfMarch 28 2010, 11:00:48 UTC
Yeah, this was much better. So comfortable.....
It took almost an hour before the man woke up again. He had a little " wtf"-moment for a second, not quite remembering where he was, but it quickly dawned on him, and he turned his head, looking right up at his "savior".
"....." And couldn't help but blush a little. This probably looked weird, and he should get home, but..... It was rather nice lying like this.
" Sorry..." he said, looking at her. Was she stroking his hair??
I can't. Who knew Moon and Remy could be so moe?remyleeMarch 28 2010, 19:38:43 UTC
This was really nice, actually. One of the weirder things Remy had done recently, but still, it was very peaceful. It wasn’t often that Remy took the time to just watch the world go by, and it felt good, just sitting in the park, singing to the sleeping man in her lap.
She was mid-song, and lost in thought when Moon stirred, startling her. “Sor-” oh, he’d already said that. She felt her face heating up with a blush to match his, and smiled sheepishly at him. “Don’t worry about it, hon.”
Her blush flamed brighter when she realized her hand was still in his hair. She pulled it back surreptitiously, hoping he wouldn’t be upset that she’d taken such liberties while he slept.
“Feeling any better?” He still looked dazed, and almost childishly cute, staring up at her like that, and she found herself smiling back.
No one :3 But... The ability is there 8Dvicious_wolfMarch 29 2010, 01:18:43 UTC
Awww, why did she stop? It felt nice, and it was soothing.
When he realized he was sorta staring at her, he turned his head, hoping the blush would go away, and focused on her dog instead, who was now staring at him curiously.
" A little bit." Moon said to her question. The dog was sorta freaking him out with that staring, so he looked back at her again.
Oh good, she didn't seem to bothered that he'd fallen asleep on her like this. And she was blushing?
Why is this whole thing so cute?remyleeMarch 29 2010, 04:35:31 UTC
“I’m glad” She told him. Even ‘a little’ better was really good compared to passing out in the dirt. Remy followed Moon’s gaze as he looked away, to see Hudson eyeballing the man a little more intensely than was strictly necessary. If they weren’t careful, Moon was going to have his face washed with dog slobber. “Huddy, go play over there.” She snapped her fingers and pointed, and the eager-to-please Labrador dashed off in the designated direction, before turning and wagging his tail at his beloved owner, giving his best ‘I’m a good puppy’ face.
When Remy turned her attention back to Moon, he was looking at her again, apparently perfectly comfy in her lap and displaying no intent to sit up any time soon. Well, that was fine by her; she didn’t intend to leave him until she was sure he made it home safely. She gave him another sheepish grin. “Sorry about, err, molesting your hair just then” she kidded gently. “Just instinct, I guess.
Cuz it's surprising? XD I think this proves anyone can be cute~*~*vicious_wolfMarch 29 2010, 14:13:51 UTC
Normally he'd probably get mad or either yell or beat up someone for touching his hair. It just annoyed him. But apparently Remy had some sorta awesome massage-skills or something, cause it just felt nice and comfortable when she did it.
" It's ok.... Usually it bothers me, but... I'll let it go this time." he said, and chuckled. Maybe he'd just sleep like this. It was almost as nice as back in his bed.
Except in his bed he didn't have a cute girl stroking his hair....
Even manry, heroic firefighters! I just grin every time I think about this.remyleeMarch 29 2010, 20:35:05 UTC
Remy giggled back at him. "Oh. Well in that case...." she playfully combed her fingers through his hair again "Better make the most of it now."
He didn't seem bothered by it now, and his hair was really nice...
Remy knew she ought to see about getting Moon back home so he could sleep, but.... For some reason, she just wanted to stay like this for a while longer...
Oh yes. Me too xD *Listening to sugary pop music* :Dvicious_wolfMarch 29 2010, 22:45:05 UTC
This was indeed very nice. And Moon was starting to feel sleepy again. It was probably the effect of the haircombing he was getting.
He chuckled at her comment. " Go ahead." he said with a smile. Hopefully nobody they knew would know about this. If Conner found out, he'd probably try to kill him. Not that Moon really cared though...
Remy was softly singing to herself, and the always appreciative Hudson, when she rounded a corner and saw another figure up ahead.
