Wednesday afternoon meant Roderich wasn't at work again.
He was taking a break and strolling along Bluebird Avenue. He didn't come to the Russian district often, but he had heard they had quite delicious desserts. And Roderich could never pass up on desserts.
He glanced absentmindedly at the store windows as he tried to locate a bakery or a cafe of some sort. He walked past a bathing suit store and paused when he thought he saw a familiar person.
"Kim?" he said to himself with a raised eyebrow. He lingered and watched her take down a swimsuit and disappeared somewhere inside the store.
Figuring it couldn't hurt to say 'hello', Roderich walked into the store. He snaked through the racks, trying to find Kim. He spotted her near the back of the store. Before he could call out her name, however, she was already walking inside the dressing room.
Ah, well, he could stay until she came out. Until then, he glanced around the store, not too particularly interested in swimsuits.
She changed into it, and was almost amazed at how it actually fitted pretty well. The right size. Incredible.
Since there was only a medium sized mirror in the dressing room itself, she had to go out of it, to look in the bigger mirror right outside the dressing room, which worked as a good mirror for anyone who tried on clothes.
She looked in the mirror, and felt even worse. Sure, the swimsuit was really cute, and she liked blue almost as much as green, but... She couldn't help wishing her breasts were at least a size bigger. Having B cups wasn't too bad, but knowing that Mei always looked better in most of the clothes they tried on, wasn't exactly helping her self confidence, no matter how much praise she got for the way she looked.
Roderich paced about the store, kindly telling the associates that he was just waiting for a friend. They gave him a look and moved on to other customers eventually.
He heard a clicking from the dressing room unlocking. He looked over to the dressing room area and saw the top of Kim's head over the tall racks. He made his way over to her, then, thinking that she was probably finished trying out whatever it was.
"Kim," he called as he approached, "it's nic----"
He caught himself dead. He gasped loudly, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. He threw his hand over his mouth and turned away quickly. He hadn't expected to see Kim in such an outfit... It was too inappropriate!
Roderich turned his head and gasped loudly when he saw Kim still there in that bathing suit. He was seeing way too much skin for comfort.
"P-Please change!" he stuttered, covering his mouth and turning away quickly again.
A few of the workers were giving him funny looks. He hurried away from the dressing room area and lingered by the front of the store instead. He huffed and tried to calm his nerves as well as get rid of the image of Kim's exposed body from his mind.
After about five minutes, Kim had changed back into her clothes, her favourite green Vietnamese dress and white pants, and paid for the bathing suit. She had it in a plastic bag and walked outside, seeing him.
Roderich waited patiently outside the store. He would've ran off already if he didn't think it would be too rude to do such a thing. He turned around when he saw Kim coming out of the store with a bag.
"N-nothing," he said quickly, cheeks still a little pink. "I-I'm sorry if I... embarrassed you. I didn't mean to catch you when you were trying out clothes.."
He glanced away shyly and tried to stop seeing the blue bathing suit in his mind.
" Embarrass me?" She blinked, and then smiled. " Don't worry. You didn't really see too much anyway. It's just a bathing suit." she said, trying to sound as reassuring as she could.
And it wasn't a too big of a deal. She'd been in bathing suits before in front of guys, so she wasn't too embarrassed about it. Had it been bikinis or undewear, on the other hand....
" I needed something to wear at Antonio's beach party.... My old one's got a huge rift in the back, and the color's fading." she explained.
"Still, I hope I didn't make things awkward," Roderich said, still keeping his head turned. He had a tendency to bring awkwardness everywhere he went, didn't he...
"Oh, yes, the party." He thought for a moment and realized that while he had said he would go, he didn't have anything proper to wear to the occasion. And he felt bad if he didn't show up since he was personally invited. Guess he needed to do some shopping as well.
"The suit you picked, from the little that I saw, looks lovely. It's a good choice."
For some reason, his compliment made her blush. Oh, well, she could blush from a lot of things. Especially guys who gave her compliments. It was a curse, really.
" Thanks." she said, smiling. " It was a perfect fit too."
She looked at him after a second, and wondered a little. " You're coming too, right?"
Roderich gave a weak nod, stealing a glance at the store window. Nah, he didn't need a bathing suit. He hadn't worn one since forever. He walked next to Kim, keeping a proper distance between them.
"What else do you need to buy?" he asked casually.
He staggered a bit to avoid running into someone on the narrow sidewalk. During the process, he accidentally bumped shoulders with Kim. He pulled away quickly, muttering a quiet apology under his breath and drew the distance between them again.
Kim noticed how weird he was being. But she didn't really ask him why, she could figure it out. He must've felt rather embarrassed by this whole thing.
Roderich was well-aware that he was acting strange. He sighed and took a breath to unhinge his nerves. He figured he was familiar with Kim enough that he could let his outward guard down a little.
"That would be good to have," he said quietly. He thought for a moment and decided to ask, "If you have time, would you mind helping me out? I need an outfit for Antonio's party as well."
"Oh, no," Roderich said quickly, "please get what you need first. I have time to spare."
He paused once they passed a store that looked like it would sun lotion as well as possible outfits for a beach day. He nodded toward the store, holding the door for Kim.
" Thanks." she said, walking in through the open door.
There were lots of things suitable for a day at the beach in this store, so Kim walked around, checking out the different items, until she found a sun lotion which she quickly bought.
She also bought a pair of white sandals, and she was done.

" Roderich?" she had just finished looking in the big mirror, and was about to go back in and change when he came over.
" You ok?" she asked, tilting her head.

Quite honestly, she liked spending time with Roderich. He was so nice, and made great cakes and tea.
