Oh my...

It looks like God didn't want us to go to school today. A strike of buses and boats has been announced, so we went to Venice by train. The wind was stronger than ever, and all the ticket machines in the stations were out of order. Ok, ok, let's queue up at the ticket office. After some minutes of panic, we finally get on the train, which was late (of course).
Finally we arrived in Venice but...the WHOLE square in front of the station was flooded O_O They usually put some footbridges on the streets to help people walk, but it looks like they were either useless or out of service. The more we went on the higher the water level was, at some point it could easily came up to our knees and there were people who were really wading into the water. It was so cold that I thought my feet were going to fall..
It's probably the worst case of Acqua Alta (= the sea level is higher than normal and part of the city is flooded) I've seen since I'm studying here. Usually they announce that there is Acqua Alta when the level of tide is between 100-110 cm, but today it was more than 160. There were sound announcements everywhere to declare the emergency state. I'm glad we could find a bus back home... because it looks like it was going to get even worse after midday. St Mark's Square (one of the lowest points of the city) is probably completely flooded O_O
