My head is a swirl of prescription meds. And I have a stuffy ear, which makes me very dizzy. I was shaving my legs in the shower this morning and I kept getting off balance and almost fell down a few times. Stay cool, Lora! I made the shower extra hot, because I am part lizard and have an aversion to all things cold except ice cream. You know the thing when you get too hot in the shower you feel like throwing up? Combine that with a 'z pack', flonase and lanacane mouthwash (which you have to swallow). I laid down at 10:00 and just now got up at 12:30. Luckily Veronica is going through a growth spurt or something because she's been asleep the entire time.

I've been thinking a lot lately. I've decided to Wiki every country in Africa. I realize Wiki is not the most thorough way to learn about an ENTIRE continent, but one has to start somewhere. It's just super convenient to have all the info in one place. A re-occurring theme is there though. I'm talking about M.C. Military Coups. What is up with all of them? The richest country in Africa's (Equatorial Guinea) people survive on less than $1 a day. The government has been accused of siphoning off about $350,000,000 and putting NONE of it back into the infrastructure. No roads, no sanitation, no government funded university! There is a university there, but it's funded by the Portuguese, or Spanish. Can't remember. So out of like 6 countries I've already read about, only 2(!) have not had some type of military take-over. W.T.F.

Also, I can't think of ANY great African literature. That's not saying it doesn't exist, but in high school, I don't think African Lit. was even mentioned! I know it's a cultural thing, but c'mon. They have pen and paper there now. Maybe because everything is so Euro/American centered. I'm sure that has something to do with it, but I've heard of the Bhagavad Gita. I've heard of The Rubyiat. Those aren't Anglo areas. It's like Africa is living in medieval times with the powerful controlling every aspect of the state, letting no one question it's authority and keeping it's people so poor and so hungry they don't care anyway. A person could be born in Africa with the potential to be the greatest scientist or author and we'd never know it. They'd never be able to develop that potential. And I think that's pretty sad.

Just what I've been thinking about today...now I need to go eat lunch. Lucky me I have food.
