A Magnetic Proposal thothmes March 20 2014, 03:46:18 UTC
It's Teal'c that has the stone face in this situation... They all know that they can take his steadfast courage for granite. Sam is being gneiss, but she's had about as much as she can take of this Goa'uld aggression schist. Daniel would lava bit more time to study the stratigraphy, but since things seem to be crystallizing into a firefight, he's seizing a moment to explain to Jack the wondrous utility of archeomagnetic dating. Jack, who feels like he will lose all his marble(s) if Daniel keeps spouting such useless sediments, has only keyed in on the "magnet" and "dating" and is getting ready to point out that "Daniel, your love life is really not Miocene, and if you would just take in the Holocene around us, you'd know that it's time to SHUT UP!!!"

It's later, when they are picking their way over and around the bodies of the dead Jaffa on the way to the gate that Jack turns to Daniel and says "Really, Daniel? Magnets?!!!"

Everyone is confused. The others have no idea what Jack is talking about, and he is perplexed by the way that they all deny that Daniel was talking about dating magnets. He was sure he heard something about that just before all hell broke loose...

Just wait until Teal'c overhears the women on the base talking about Jack's animal magnetism.

Salt is salacious, chalk is cretaceous,
They're not gneiss . . .
Limestone and coral can never be moral,
They're not gneiss . . .

Teal'c is observant and knows that Jack'll breccia heart, because he will be oblivious to your overtures until you plant one on him, and of course the women on base wouldn't be likely to do that, given that he outranks them.

Besides, Teal'c is very aware of Jack's animal magnetism. Dogs all over the galaxy seem to be drawn to him...

The confusion will come when Teal'c extrapolates from the expression he already knows and speaks of O'Neill's child magnetism. The rest of the team will think that Teal'c is speaking of Jack's tendency, when not in the press of battle to act his shoe size, but be mysteriously charismatic while doing so.
