age: Looks around his mid-twenties, actually 841 years old.
sex: Male
height: 5'11"
weight: 175 lbs
canon point: He was dealing cards at a poker game.
previous cr: nope.
physical appearance:
PB: Aaron Johnson. Drake holds himself well, and he has a good posture. Despite how well he might hold himself, he may appear quite unkempt. His hair is usually barely touched by a comb, often left curly and all over the place, and his clothes always fit, he may not mind his hair looking like a wild mess, but his clothes must always fit. He's 5'11" and even though he looks thin, he is quite fit. He is sure to work out a few times a week -- it would be sad if he wasn't able to run from people chasing him. His hair is short, brown and quite curly, usually above his ears unless he leaves it uncut. His eyes are a combination of blue and gray, blue being the most predominate color.
world information:
He's from Earth, the Earth that we know, and there has been no changes made to history besides a bit of changes in the Egyptian government that will be described in his history. The only thing that really pops out is that he's from another universe that even he doesn't know about since he was made there and sent to Earth for a purpose that will also be described in his history.
history:
“They” are the people of another universe. They want to inhabit Earth slowly and delicately, making people adapt and believe that there are others out there, others that don’t belong to the human race. Others that can and will have powers beyond anyone’s imagination.
In the nineteenth century, people were still close-minded and without a clue as to what was going on around them. The people that sent Drake to Earth were still working out the kinks, they didn’t know how they should do it or when he should arrive. Making the right decision was important, if they messed up, they would have to start over. All over. Luckily, they found a way to sneak Drake into the palace that Queen Victoria began her ruling of the British Empire; June 20th, 1837. The woman that would find Drake would be working as the Queen’s maid, a perfect environment for the child that they wanted to make. As the other unverse’s technology evolved, the people would be more precise with how they dropped one of their own in different parts of the world. Rifts would be made and the child would be found by Caretakers, who would raise and take care of the child until the child realized what they had to do.
There’s just one problem. They meant to send Drake to Britain, when they sent him in the complete opposite direction. By accident, he was sent to Egypt, just as Saladin became the ruler of Egypt in 1171. Can you say whoops? Well, at least they still snuck him into royalty. Sort of. The royal “area” is a better way to put it. They honesty didn’t know it would turn out as well as it did, Drake was the first they made, the test run, the beta. Maids who found him made sure to take care of him, but they didn’t know what was coming. As he got older, he became sinister, even as a small child at the age of five, he would destroy what he had in front of him. The only thing he did not try to break or snap was the golden bracelet that snaked up his left arm. No one knew where he got it or how he got it, but they didn’t dare take it away from him. The bracelet was in the shape of a snake, and as he grew, it grew with him. Its eyes were red with ruby jewels and its mouth open, fangs made out of small, sharp diamonds.
Drake became articulate with what he chose to break and what he chose to steal. He only broke things that someone of royalty didn’t need, like five different types of the same bracelet, and he’d only steal things someone had too many of. He hated people who were greedy. He learned from his mistakes and adapted to how he could do it and who he could steal from without them realizing it. Then again, he became articulate with everything. Saladin seemed to notice Drake’s efforts to be careful and quick, and approached him one day to offer a deal. Drake would be allowed to steal as many things as he could, but if he got caught one by Saladin himself, he would be put to death. Drake stuck to books -- not because jewels were hard to steal, but because he would not be offered the same education as actual royalty was. He locked himself in his room after a long day of avoiding work one way or another and read.
Books gave Drake a wide range of abilities : it helped his grammar and understanding of the human language. That being said, one of his most fluent languages are Kurtish and Arabic. However, he barely touches those languages at all now that he's all "grown up". That doesn't reflect his ability to remember the language, though, his memory is incredible. One of the powers that he was given by his creators was learning at an inhuman rate -- he doesn't forget anything he reads or sees, down to the very word. His constant studies were interrupted by a servant who went by the name of Achen, who took a liking to him. Drake didn't know how to react -- he hadn't been taught about human relations besides what he read in his books, and that was very, very limited. His ideas on romance were skewed, and in that era, women were always supposed to be seen 'under' men. He hadn't paid attention to such things, not seeing a point to romancing, and when Achen made advances on him, he made advances back. Well, his idea of advances. He barely spoke to her, barely acknowledged her, but when he did, there would only be physical advances. He had no idea how to relate to women verbally, so he used physical contact. It certainly played in his favor, because Achen responded positively each time. Achen is the only one who saw Drake for who he was and didn't mind, perhaps Drake even loved her. Once Drake learned that these ideas of his paid off, he would use them if women or men gave him any sort of idea that they wanted to have relations with him. This doesn't mean that he wanted any of it, though. No, he did it because they wanted it. He doesn't care for sex at all. If it happens to come up, then, there it is.
He stopped aging physically around the age of twenty-five. Things around him were changing, but he wasn't. It was incredibly stressful for him, and as years went by, people started to question his appearance. Why did he look the same while they grew older? Around 1196, a few years after Saladin's death, he was mistakenly called a 'god', and that was when he had to leave Damascus. By then, he had figured out what his powers were. He knew he had been different, not everyone could remember everything they read nor could they not age. Teleportation was a power that he had found out about by accident. When he was fifteen, he was wandering the streets, looking for something to steal. A necklace caught his eye, and as he grabbed it, the seller pulled out a knife and held it to his neck. Then .... poof. He was back inside his room inside the castle. Surprisingly, he didn't use his skill as much as one would have thought. It was incredibly hard to explain how one would be in one place at one time, then another the next. He would have been killed immediately if his secret was found out. However, after being accused of a god, he decided to use his power to travel to England, and that was when the Caretakers were alerted of his arrival.
He was a little extremely early, but Caretakers were always available in case of emergencies. They took him in for fifteen years, teaching him what was right and wrong to do in his line of work. He had to help populate the world, to ease humanity into accepting people with abilities. It was a strange request, but Drake accepted his fate. He had always wondered why he never had a mother or a father, assuming they had been killed in a freak accident. No, they never existed. The Caretakers explained how to help society accept them and their people, and what better way than religion? If society was taught by someone who had their own story, their own gods and powers, they would be more likely to rely and accept it. Sure, there were a few loopholes in that idea, but they had plenty of time to fix it up. Other rift children would be made soon, Drake wouldn't be the only one forever. What Drake was told to do was to travel around the world and, while teaching the world of his people, to mate with them as well. Rift children were not the only way to spread out Drake's race, oh, no. And that was what made Drake roll his eyes. The Caretakers were unsure about the situation they had just put Drake in, but he accepted it, just as he had accepted what he had to do: re-make the human race, in his own special way.
During the 1400s Drake had gotten used to religion oozing out of every church and fighting with the opposing 'side', as if one was right and the other was wrong. He had tried his best to keep everyone at peace -- but it wasn't a job he could do by himself. It had been easy at first, convincing people and coaxing them into his ideas, but he was getting tired of the same scenery every day, so he moved to Italy against the Caretaker's will, escaping from his job in Florence. It was there that he met Leonardo da Vinci, and that was quite an experience. Drake was more than just intrigued by his work, sticking around him to see what he invented and even following him to France. He learned the basics of drawing and painting, using Leonardo's work as an example and copying it. Drake was a shadow, and nothing else as he accompanied Leonardo on his travels and admired his work. His ability to pick up on what was written for plans and ideas was impressive, and he thanked his mind for in-taking so much information on a daily basis. Soon enough, Drake's own work began to mirror Leonardo's, and he stuck by him until he died in Clos Lucé, in 1519. Drake stopped drawing and painting directly afterwards, but he did take on one of Leonardo's habits, which was purchasing caged birds and releasing them.
1900's-2000's:
Drake picked up gambling after he moved to New York. He was still a gypsy, and knew just how to play his cards right. He would play rich, snobby business men and local pimps, buying prostitutes out of their contracts with pimps and making sure they had a healthy life afterwards. If the pimps threw a fit, he would pull the rug out from under their feet (sometimes, quite literally) which mostly meant he would somehow, in some way, get most of their money. He would leave them bankrupt and not look back. He had been caught for cheating during poker games plenty of times, being thrown out of a game at one point. When the mafia found out of his skills, they attempted to pull him into their grasp. Needless to say, it worked, and Drake played them well. He was so good at what he did that he moved up quite easily, only to turn on them and rob them of their money and turn them into the police. After that, he decided to leave new York to go to Germany. He had been slacking on his job, despite slowly spreading his word here and there, he wasn't quite doing it the way he should have. Starting with Germany seemed like an okay idea to him, so he went through with it, and it went well. He was well-respected among a large group of people, and they didn't mind spreading his word for him and giving Drake what he needed. Drake used them to his liking, being sure to be kind, but forceful with his requests. He did not want any of his duties to be fooled with, or any of the information that he gave out to be reworded into lies. If one so did stray from his ideal 'rules', he would be sure to punish them verbally, not physically.
Drake met a women named Marie after he moved out of Germany and back to France. He immediately fell in love with her, but she wasn't interested. The one time that Drake felt something for another woman, she did not return his feelings. She was just as cold and introverted as Drake was, and that only made him want her more. His persistence with her must have paid off, because they began a relationship that lasted five years, they even bought an apartment together. It wasn't a happy relationship -- the two fought every day and shut each other out with each passing minute, but they still loved each other. Needless to say, loving someone who did as you did didn't work out as well as they thought it would. Drake would shut himself in his study for hours on end, resorting to reading books, while Marie would have an affair with another man in the next room. It wasn't because Drake was horrible in bed, it was because she wanted to get his attention, but it never worked. Drake knew what she was doing, and it hurt, because whatever attention she gave her was never enough. She was addicted to power, and Drake had it, but he didn't give her enough of it. His stories of what he went through didn't hold her in place for too long. She wanted more, she always wanted more. Marie's addiction slowly drove her mad, and she spiraled into a dark place in her mind. Drake did everything to get her out of it, but she wasn't trying to get out. Marie seemed to enjoy her own suffering, relishing in being dominated by a power that Drake couldn't control. She ended up killing herself in a rage, throwing herself out the apartment's window. Drake kept away from relationships after that -- he knew it wasn't his fault, but he didn't want something like that ever again. He sold the apartment and moved to another town. The people he was attracted to were too much, they didn't have the knowledge he did, and it bothered him. He had stopped gambling for Marie, but with nothing better to do, he went back to it. He had nothing to lose, and almost always won.
Around 2011 he moved back to the United States and went back to New York. He was sure, by that time, the mafia he had been involved with was gone. He was quite impressed with the way things had changed -- casinos had gotten bigger, and stealing harder. Not to say that made him stop, but making illegal poker games were fun and it gave Drake the potential to get into more trouble. Laws were more defined and easier to break. It was more fun. He actually stole a gun from a cop once, quite successfully. He was disappointed with how fast the chase ended.
personality:
Drake has three sides to him.
The first: the formal, sinister and professional persona.
This is the one that shifts constantly, and it depends on the person he greets with how much of his sinister side comes out. He's quiet and aloof, using it to his advantage to coax others out of their shell with carefully worded sentences, only to bring them down later. This darkness inside of him is considerably hidden, meshing with his smiles and soft words that he likes to bring out so well. He has been described as the man with the snake at his side. He knows how to mesmerize people, to bring out what's inside of them, while being cool and quick about it. However, there is as much of that snake inside him as there is the man. He will show his fangs and bite with venom if he sees fit, if something about someone turns him off, or simply because he can. He's not scared to bring someone down or tell them the truth, he doesn't see a point to creating excuses to make someone feel better.
He doesn't like to talk about himself. Period. Done deal. Because he has such a lively past, feeling like people don't deserve to hear about what he has to say, and because he simply doesn't like to do it, he actually plans out conversations. He has spent so much time around humans and read more books than he could even count that conversations come easily to him. He knows just what to say to keep the topic on the other person, knowing that all humans are naturally attracted to the idea of talking about themselves -- or at least, most of them are. He's had some trouble with other gypsies in his early life. They were just as tricky and conniving as he was and posed as a challenge. Drake's dark curiosity would always tug at his rope around gypsies, out of all the people he has met. Gypsies taught him how to see things differently than what he saw in books and people, which included tarot cards and reading stars. He enjoyed it while he could before he had to leave them. Gypsies were a different sort of people, they wouldn't abide to his ideals, but they would accept them and agree on spreading the word. His curiosity has lead him to anything but sexuality. He wants to see what makes people tick, what makes them crumble in desperation or writhe in anguish or seethe with anger. He doesn't mind who or what they're angry at as long as he gets to see it. Everyone is different, but he likes to see the bad in people. He wants to, because it's real. It's what they have kept inside for so long that even they can't stand to hold onto it anymore. Some part of him even enjoys seeing the bad in people, hearing the things that they have to say. At other times, though, Drake really couldn't bring himself to care. It's why he's very specific with who he attacks. Some people are just plain boring.
He will throw the coin between to people and watch two people fight for it. He loves starting fights, it's one of his many tricks that he holds onto. He doesn't like to be involved in a fist fight, but he will give 'juicy gossip' to each person and watch them 'fight to the death' over lies and slander that Drake made up on the spot. He doesn't care what he says to who as long as he gets the gears turning between them. He will sit on his throne and watch it all happen, watch the two destroy themselves without interfering anymore. One of his tricks lead to actual death, though. It lead to a stabbing in a back alley next to a cafe in Paris. Drake still doesn't regret a thing, it was exciting. He would never do such a thing to another person, but watching it happen? Very intriguing to him. That being said, Drake is addicted to lying, but he plays it off so well, that the truth and lies mesh together nicely. No one ever knows what he says is real or unreal, and it leaves Drake looking very mysterious.
Drake is surprisingly uninterested in any kind of relationship, be it physical or emotional, but he's open to what is given to him. He's happy to listen to anything someone has to say. He will sit quietly and nod and do whatever it takes to earn someone's trust, but hey, when was the last time he told them something about himself? Probably never. If sex if offered to him, he'll take it, and he's made a slight reputation for being a passionate and quiet lover, which might even hint to a softer side to him.
His aloofness and almost kind nature peaks out during quick conversations, and is usually the trait that sticks out the most. His formality makes him seem like someone who knows what he's doing, and oh, he most certainly does, but he'll accompany his words with a smile and kind eyes, murmuring sweet nothings that reach the other's ear. It's the softness about him that make people relax, but he lies through his teeth. He will compliment you and say you have an ugly soul the very next second with a smile that says "I'm here for you." In a way, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.
The second: a clever "gypsy".
Drake knows how to distract the mind. He knows what grabs its interest, and he knows how to keep it entertained until he can get what he wants. With this 'ability' of his, he is able to steal right from under someone's nose. Got something he wants? He's going to take it from you with no regrets. Be it by snatching it from your pocket while talking to you, or stealing your earring, he's going to get it without much trouble. Often, he will do something obvious, like waving a hand in a person's face and grabbing their wallet. With someone who is more alert, he'll pay children to do it for him as he talks to his victim. Or, he'll go to great lengths to distract them. Some of these lengths involve flirting or even touching them in ways they haven't been touched before. In these moments, he is often grateful for the knowledge that he has from the many books he has read. He knows exactly what to say and exactly where to touch.
He may be sinister and conniving, but he can also be quite intuitive. He often dreams of his own future or of people he will meet, and he picks up on different vibes easily, be it from a person or a place. He enjoys old stores such as antique stores or book stores, because they have personality and they feel like home, almost, at least for him. He likes the way that they smell. If they have incense, they get points, most definitely.
Catching Drake with this persona is better than catching him with the first. He is much less likely to turn on you, except for the slight chance of him stealing a few small trinkets from your pocket. He will be more relaxed and will contribute more to the conversation rather than just asking questions about someone's life, etc. He might even tell them about his life and how he grew up. However, that is rare to happen, because in order for him to open up like that, he will have had to know you for long enough that he feels you deserve to hear what he has to say. The friendliness expressed through this persona is more truthful, and less lies come out of his mouth.
The third: unknown.
There's a part to Drake that he doesn't express at all. Perhaps only those who have loved him and whom he has loved are able to see this side. Marie went so far to describe him as "sweet". However, it can't be proven that this part of him even exists. Whoever is lucky enough to reach Drake's sweetness and adoring nature is someone who he respects. He will treat someone like a prince or princess, making sure they are their happiest. You would never think that something so sweet and gentle exists in Drake, but it does exist. Good luck getting that out of him, though.
abilities/powers: Drake has the ability to learn at an inhuman rate, remembering everything he has read or seen down to the very word. He can also teleport, but this is a skill he doesn't use often. He also knows how to distract one's mind, which isn't so much as a power as it is something he learned through life. It comes in handy when he steals from people.
first person sample:
herethird person sample:
He's sitting at a bar, talking to a blonde woman who seems to have fallen for his nice demeanor and meaningless sweet-talking. He won't bother interrupting her, it wouldn't be worth it. She was talking about her father and mother and how they ignored her and how sad she was about it. She's looking at him like she expects some kind of advice, but then she continues to talk. He would be more interested in her problems if he hadn't heard the it a thousand times over again. Daddy issues. Those seemed to pop out the most with modern-day women. Ugh. He stopped listening to her a while ago, now he was just admiring her looks. She had quite a lot of gifts, he gave her that. Her lips were full and red with lipstick, and her complexion was clear and made her skin look absolutely beautiful -- so soft, maybe he should touch her.
He does. He reaches out and brushes a thumb against her cheek softly. This makes her pause, a small, shy smile gracing her features. He made her stop, and that's what makes him smile back. As he's touching her, he slides his other hand into her purse, taking her phone and slipping it up his sleeve. He can feel her blushing, and he retracts his hand. Big mistake -- she starts up again, this time she's talking faster. She's nervous. Now she's talking about how she can't stop going after men.
Drake hated it when they droned on and on and on, god, why won't she shut up? He takes a drag from his cigarette, blowing smoke rings up to the ceiling.
"You know, I think I have some advice for you," he interrupts her because he simply can't stand it any longer. The blonde perks up.
"Yes?" She looks so hopeful. Poor thing.
"You need more confidence. You're incredibly dull -- I don't know how most men put up with that. You're better off with a bum with the way you yammer on about your life. Need, need, need, need. Is that all there is to you? Get something else into your head. You know you're better than this disgusting place. You're no better than the common whore." He says all of this with a smile on his face, and he's touching her hand affectionately, his voice soft. The woman's features twist into confusion, she doesn't understand at first, she thinks that he's complimenting her by the way he's speaking. By the time she registers all of what he's said, he's already out the door.

Revisions:
What he is/his origin: Drake isn't human, but he has all of the human characteristics. Organs, tissue, skeletal system, etc. He has all of the regular human needs. He needs to eat, drink, go to the bathroom and he will die if he is stabbed. To say that he was made in a lab would probably make the most sense, because he wasn't born in any way at all. He was the first made in the lab, however, and that's why so many mistakes happened with his destination -- They didn't have any idea what they were doing. They did do one thing right, and that was to copy the human body exactly the way that it was. So, Drake is more of a mutant if anything, an experimentation gone right. His powers, on the other hand, go against regular human characteristics. The gifts that were given to him include not aging, and that goes against ... everything. If he posed as some kind of godly creature, people would want to believe him. He can't turn water into wine, but he can't age, either, so that helps push people into seeing what they need to see -- there are those with gifts around them, and they need to accept it that way. Drake has had some issues with that, because he's gotten a few questions like, "Can you die?" He doesn't want to find out. Posing as a supernatural being certainly had its ups and downs, but overall, people accepted him for who he was, and would agree to spread the word for him, letting others know that more of his people will be sent soon enough, and that they needed to help Drake in any way they could.
"They", the ones who sent him: They don't have any absolute form -- They take the shape of anything that pleases the human eye, be it a talking kitten or the human's mother. The reason that They choose to do this is because they want to please humans. They want to be accepted in any way possible, and the only way to really do that, in their opinion, is to do their absolute best in helping repopulate Earth with them in it. They have the power to touch someone's mind and give them information that is only known to them: their language, their mission, their home. The universe that they live in is built of one city, but it's slowly dying out, which is why they chose Earth to inhabit. They have watched Earth for a long time, and since it seems to be growing well despite some differences, they decided to take the risk by sending their creations there. They are born just as humans are born, but they can't send their children through space and time to reach Earth, it wouldn't work, the children would not survive, they would be too young and naive to what they should be doing. Not to say that these children didn't have powers of their own, no, their entire race did, but They aren't used to traveling through space, so they created rifts that would drop their creations off in certain places on the Earth.
Caretakers: Caretakers are usually old gypsies that They have visited and explained their situation. They have input the information needed for taking care of one of their creations, and the Caretakers are told where to be and when in order to pick up the child from the rift. They will pose as a mother or father figure and teach the children, day and night, of their fate. The reason that gypsies were chosen for this job was because they tend to see things differently already, and they go through many different experiences throughout their own lives; traveling, people, foods, books. The older they are, the more wise they are.
Missions: To put it simply, Drake's mission is to repopulate the world. In doing this, he will have taught humans to accept people like him more easily instead of shunning what they didn't know, or feared for their own reasons. That's why that he went to religion so quickly -- people tend to lean towards things that hold some kind of comfort, something that they can look up to. Posing as a godly creature would only attract more attention, and that's what he needed. In order to repopulate the world, Drake can't sit back and watch it happen. He has to take it into his hands to seduce a human of the opposite sex and impregnate her. The child born will be born a child with powers, not the same as Drakes, but the child will have something special about them, no matter what. The problem? Drake doesn't go after women like he should be. He waits as long as he has to in order to bed a woman, basically because sex isn't that interesting to him. He doesn't care. He just wants to get it over with. Not to say he doesn't get into it, he just sees it as something that's a little too easy. Normally, he wouldn't put something off so much, but because he doesn't age, he simply doesn't want to do it. Procrastination is key, and that's how he's going to roll. If things go too long without another woman, he'll step up to the plate and take care of things.
