It's been about two months. I'm at my new job and out of Starbucks. I work in Specimen Processing at Beaumont, Royal Oak. It's a pretty nice hospital. I didn't like Royal Oak when I went there for my interviews, but it's grown on me, I guess. I still miss Troy and everyone there, of course. But Royal Oak is okay. I can handle at least a year here (maybe longer).
My new job is pretty simple. I enter a patient's information into the hospital patient registration system, verify they're address, phone number, insurance, etc., and then create a hospital billing account with the clinic and physician to go onto the patient's medical record. From there, I open the laboratory system and verify the same information, order the tests requested, and input various information that came with the request for testing. After that, I print labels and put them on specimens.
It's pretty repetitive. It sounds easy. For the most part, it is, but sometimes things pop up that don't make much sense and I have to grab someone for some extra help. That's fine. I really like everyone there, for the most part. A few people are annoying, but I can deal with annoying without much of an issue.
My new supervisor is really. Her name is Tasha. We get along really, really well. She keeps feeding me compliments and makes me feel important again. It's weird, but it's kind of like working at Speedway again. At least I felt recognized for the work I did when I was there. I think that's what this job is going to be like. Which is cool haha.
Other than work, not much is new. I'm back at my mom's house. Which sounds like it sucks but I'm really happy (it's only been one night so far, though). It's nice to not be paying rent, or cleaning up after other people (poor mom). This will be better. At least until I can crawl out of debt. I've got like $5,000 in school loans, $5,000 in credit card debt. It'll be okay.
