[I NEED MY MARIO PARTY]

Jul 31, 2010 19:36

I have just returned from about two days worth of time spent at a house that isn't my own. What was it that's done over there? It certainly wasn't getting sleep; however, playing almost nine hours of Mario Party straight was well worth the lack of it. I stopped playing the Mario Party series way back in 2002, because I thought there was a huge dip in quality after it moved from the N64 to the GCN. Out of boredom, we pulled out Mario Party 8 from my friend's game library and started playing with only two human players (there were three of us there, but he only had two wiimotes). We only played one normal game (25 turns), but I was left with a very conflicting taste in my mouth afterward. The board design and the mini-games were awesome were a lot better than I was expecting; however, both were bogged down by the shitty ass motion sensing of the Wii, and it pissed me off because the game being on the Wii was the reasons why most of the mini-games were not enjoyable.

Oh, so then my friend suddenly remembers that he has Mario Party 7 (OOPZ), and so we decide to play that instead instead. This time, all three of us were able to play, and we soon found ourselves having the time of our life throughout the night. The motion sensing was gone, the mini-games were great, the boards were awesome, and the competition was always close. There was hilarity, there was screaming (mainly by me), there was raging, and there was a whole nights worth of fun. The first two Mario Party games are still considered the best in my eyes (though it could be just nostalgia), but Mario Party 7 has proven itself to be a solid title in the series despite being one of the newer games. Should I play 5 and now, or just go and play the first four again? I have no idea, but I'm on a Mario Party high right now, and I need to do something about it.

It's been three years and there hasn't been a Mario Party 9 yet.
Which is strange, since a Mario Party has been released every year until 7.
Is it because the Wii itself has a million other Mario Party-esque games on it?
Or have they just decided to not milk the series so violently anymore?

I want at least one more entry into the series, but it's probably for all the wrong reasons. Don't make any of the mini-games need motion sensing (which is impossible), bring back the Adventure modes from 1 and 2, make the bots not suck at mini-games, keep Toadette, and make it so you can fucking play online Nintendo what the hell is wrong with you.

Mario Party DS has no WiFi, and neither does Mario Party 8. Not everyone has a casual family they can play with anytime they want, so how am I supposed to enjoy Mario Party if I'm playing with shitty ass bots that are either impossible or retarded?! If you are working on Mario Party 9 and do not implement online play I will fly over there and burn your headquarters down.

After I get some much needed sleep, of course.

video games, good times, reality, mario party
