14 - the days I live without you

I'm so very sorry for the lateness of the new post. But this is the first time LJ is working for me again.  I wrote a sonnet for you but is now forever lost in the glitches :(
So no funny business here, I know you want to get back to the usual game ASAP.

There is a substitute on dreamwidth in case LJ is having trouble again.

The usual things:

Fill- Pride and Prejudice (Camerborne) 3/ anonymous October 4 2011, 21:02:40 UTC
George stood up to leave as the final speaker sat down but David grabbed his sleeve. "Wait. Please. I think we need to sort some things out. I don't know why but you've got it all wrong. I don't have a clue what you were talking about. Look, come to the bar and we'll have a drink and I'm sure we can-"

"Yeah. I don't think so." George pulled away and glared at David. "You expect me to believe that your old boy's network hasn't told you every little thing about me that you could possibly wish to know? To exploit? To use to your political advantage? I might not be part of it but please credit me with some intelligence! I know how it works. Well, I tried to help him. I did bloody help him. He's off them now because I helped him so shove that into your pipe and smoke it because what you know isn't going to get you anywhere at all, Cameron. No where."

David looked completely confused and not a little upset.

"Excuse me." George went to push past him.

David stopped him again. "Will you just listen to me? I don't know what you're talking about!" George turned back to retort something scathing when he realised that David looked genuinely upset. He paused. But they were all liars, he knew that and they could charm you one moment and stab you in the back the next. Once he'd fallen for it, once he'd thought they valued him but then he'd learnt... no, Cameron was no different, he was calculating. Why George had said as much before he'd even known he was an Old Etonian. He was calculating and shrewd and however charming he might appear, George wasn't going to fall for any of it again. Not again. It had been too painful the first time round. He'd thought he was their equal. They'd let him in their club and even as they'd trashed his room all around him he'd felt so blessed. He'd felt wanted and valued and he'd thought they were his friends but he'd never belonged. They'd called him Oik. It still smarted to think of it. It still flooded him with embarrassment. Being held upside down and-

George pushed past David without another word, his face flaming. They'd done it once but they would never be in a position to do it again, of that at least he could be absolutely certain.

Oh George, so paranoid!

Poor David's probably wondering what he's done wrong.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm really glad you're enjoying it. I had to put "snake" in there even though I was terrible at it. ;)

And poor DCam, George is being rather unfair though I hope you can see why and David is flummoxed. :(
