Dearest Anons,
In five days (on May 8, 2011) this meme will have existed for a whole year.
It is an extraordinary achievement, your extraordinary achievement, to have kept this going well and alive for so long. With thousands of fics and comments, this meme is one of (if not the) most amazing thing I've ever come across. Not only the amount of fic

David looked up slowly from the pile of papers his eyes had been resting on without seeing for the last hour. "Hm? Oh, hi Nick, come in."
Nick moved into the room. "You seem distracted," he observed after a few seconds of watching David stare again through the papers. "Anything I can help with?"
David sighed and gave his Deputy his full attention. "I'm afraid not, it doesn't matter, I've just been a bit of a fool that's all."
"I see. I'm a good listener."
I'm sure you are, thought David, in all sincerity, but since the last thing he wanted to talk to Nick about was George and the ill advised kiss the evening before, he just waved the other man on. Nick shrugged. "Alright, then I think we need to talk about your stance on AV."
David rubbed at his head and tried not to sigh. "You know how the Conservatives feel about it."
"But I don't know how you do."
David looked up sharply. "I feel the same."
"Do you?"
"Yes." David's eyes had narrowed a little. "I hope it hasn't escaped your attention that I AM actually a Conservative?"
"Well...." Nick frowned and David's eye twitched. "What's that supposed to mean? Do I go around calling your party loyalties into question?"
"Alright, calm down." Nick held up his hands. "I can see you got out of bed on the wrong side this morning."
"I did not get of bed on the wrong side." David's voice had lost all it's friendliness.
"I'm just getting a little tired of people assuming I'm suddenly a Liberal in Conservative clothing! Just because I want this coalition to work doesn't mean I'm betraying all my principles and the trust of my party! I am a Conservative, I always will be a Conservative, I want what's best for my party, is that so difficult to understand? I represent my party's interests and that includes on AV. We don't want it, we've never wanted it, I'm allowing the vote for you because we're in a coalition and we all have to make sacrifices, that's all!"
Nick's mouth had tightened during David's little rant and his eyes flashed as he turned on his heel and stalked towards the door. David rubbed his hand over his face. "I'm sorry, that was uncalled for, you're right, I did get out of bed on the wrong side, the wall side I think. I'm sorry Nick."
Nick stopped and thought about leaving anyway but he hadn't the heart, not when David apologised so honestly as soon as he thought he was wrong. He turned round and walked back towards the Prime Minister. "You're lucky I'm in a forgiving mood."
"I am." David smiled at him slightly and then he looked at his desk and blushed a little. "Have... have you seen George by any chance?"
Nick raised an eyebrow and David flushed a deeper red. "We had a... disagreement last night, I said some things I shouldn't have..."
And did them.....
