He's on edge because he can feel the full moon approaching and he'll have to change on his last night here by Nick, but he's sure that by then it won't be a problem that Nick learns the truth. Until the full moon, though, it'll give him the edge he needs to teach Nick his proper place.
Their first day is pleasant enough, catching each other up on things that have happened while either of them was out of the country, and talking about more personal matters as well. He does like Nick very much, which is why David isn't going to tear his throat out and arrange to have it blamed on some freak wild animal attack.
It's during the evening, when Nick is relaxed after a few glasses of wine, that David pounces, for lack of a better word. Nick's standing by the kitchen table, talking about something, but David has tuned him out, too busy measuring Nick up. He's relaxed, he's distracted, he's weak, and David moves swiftly forward, pinning Nick against one side of the table.
"David?" Nick asks, laughing a little. "If you wanted the wine, just ask."
Nick sets his senses on edge, and David resists the urge to push him back further, to nip at his neck and make sure Nick knows how vulnerable he is. Not now. "I didn't want the wine," he says, and it comes a little bit growly, the wolf is close to the surface now that Nick is only a few inches away.
"Well, give me some space, then," Nick says, smiling in his usual friendly manner, but David can smell he's a little nervous. Nick then makes the mistake of pushing at David's shoulder, not very hard, just a playful little shove, but it's enough to set off the wolf.
David growls, grabs Nick by his shirt, and turn them around to shove Nick against the wall. Nick lets out a surprised gasp, and David pushes himself against Nick. "You don't tell me what to do," he says, a hint of a snarl.
Nick blinks at him. "David?" he asks. His hands are up. "What's going on?"
He can see right through the harmless, innocent act. Nick's clever, but David is on to him. "What's going on is that you need to learn your place. I'm in charge."
"Now, David, we are meant to be partners in this," Nick says, no longer smiling. "I don't know where this has come from, but -"
"You think you're in charge?" David snarls, pushing even closer. "Just because I'm out of the country for a bit? I'm the leader."
"And I'm not some assistant you can order around," Nick replies, getting angry. "You need me to get a majority, David. Don't forget that."
David grins. It's no fun if Nick immediately rolls over and gives in. "And yet you can't get anything done without my permission."
Nick glares at him. "David, you can't do anything without us backing you up. What's got into you?"

Nick shoves him away, hard. "What the hell is wrong with you?" he shouts. "You know what, I'm leaving." He shakes his head, and walks out of the kitchen.
David growls under his breath, he's not letting Nick get away now. Nick's distracted, muttering as he packs his bag, and David tackles him to the floor. Finally, a proper fight.
Nick shouts again, something incomprehensible, and he pushes and shoves at David to get off him, and they struggle on the floor for some time. David loves it, loves finally getting physical after having to settle things with words, and Nick seems to be into it as well, sometimes getting the upper hand before David takes it back again. A fist lands in his face, but David ignores the sudden flash of pain, and goes for the jugular.
Nick stills when he feels David's teeth scraping against his neck. "David?" he asks, panting. "Are you - are you going to bite me?"
He's definitely tempted, but that's not how it works. "Only if you won't admit I've won."
"Oh, God," Nick groans, closing his eyes. "Fine, David, you win. Can you get off me now?"
But what's the point of getting off a recently defeated challenger? David nuzzles into Nick's neck, and starts to lick. There's the salty taste of sweat, and the smell of fear and anxiety, which David enjoys.
"David?" Nick asks, still lying there, hands on David's shoulders, but he's not pushing. "What're you doing?"
David just growls a little, nips at some skin, then continues his licking, and there it is, what he's been expecting. The scent of growing arousal.
"David, I'm not sure if this is, oh, appropriate," Nick says, finishing on a moan. "We were just, mmm, fighting."
"Yes," David mutters. "And I won." Which means he gets to claim, and he wants to claim Nick, make sure Nick knows his position.
"We need to, mm, discuss this," Nick mutters, and David moves off him to turn Nick over, then goes back to nuzzling and licking Nick's neck. "David!"
David ignores it, instead grabbing Nick's bag and locating the body lotion he knows Nick carries. Just because he's won doesn't mean he won't be nice to his Deputy.

"David, I'm not sure if this is -"
"Quiet," David snarls, and is glad to see that Nick listens. He's learned his place. David takes care of his own trousers, and opens the tube of body lotion. It'll suffice.
It feels so good to be inside Nick, so hot and tight and David grunts as he bites into the fabric covering Nick's shoulder. He wants to throw his head back and howl, it feels so good.
Nick's whimpers indicate he's less than pleased with how it feels, telling David to slow down, to be careful, to pull out, but David ignores it, a firm grip on Nick's hips, fingers clawing into his skin. There'll probably be bruises, but no one'll see them. He thrusts into Nick more frantically close, closer and then he's coming. He does howl then, but muffled by Nick's suit.
He pulls out of Nick, and hears a relieved whimper. "Mine," David says, rolling off Nick but still holding his arm tight. Nick's his, and he's got the rest of the weekend to make sure Nick knows it as well.
