They didn't normally travel in the same car to head to Parliament, but if any day was the day for them to appear especially united ahead of what was getting ready to happen, that was the day.
When David and Nick stepped out of the car together, the looks on the faces around them clearly stated that they all thought David and Nick were absolutely insane not to be separating themselves in light of the leaked video. But Nick happened to agree with Dave on this, if they could spin this the right way, they would come out of it smelling like roses. Slightly unconventional roses, but roses nonetheless.
The two of them went their separate ways once inside, acting like absolutely nothing was happening. Everyone was polite to their faces, if not a bit more reserved than usual, but everyone was perfectly aware that it was all an act. David and Nick were up to something, and the wheels in everyone's heads were already turning at how they could trip up their grand scheme.
This was Parliament, after all, and politics. And in both, when something like this came out, especially concerning the PM and DPM, there was hell to pay. There was no way they were going to let David and Nick weasel out of this one!
When it was time for PMQs to begin, those who weren't already inside the chamber began to rush towards the doors. David and Nick headed in as well, taking their usual seats right next to one another on the front bench, waiting for the session before PMQs to wrap up.
You sure about this? David scrawled out on the blank paper at the front of his binder that he kept for note taking.
Nick reached out and picked the pen out from David's hand. He wrote, Yes. We're right about this. Think of it like you made your wife a strip tease video for her birthday or something.
David tried not to laugh out loud at that, he didn't need the cameras to catch them being too chummy like they really were having an affair after all. He drew a little smiley face to convey his emotion and he heard Nick snort next to him. He jotted down, Good comparison. Keep up the good work, Nick. We're going to need it.
There was no time for Nick to respond because the Speaker was calling the House to order and setting up questions to the Prime Minister, calling on whoever it was asking the first question this week to say their bit so David could stand and do his own routine answer before the core of the rhetoric began.
Once he had sat back down again, the Speaker called on the Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband, and David smirked to himself. He could see what would be happening. Miliband was going to ask all of his questions together, rather than spread out across the session in an attempt to trip David up. Except David knew that given enough back and forth time, he always came out on top in these situations with Miliband and if he could make Miliband stumble over himself, sound stupid, then he could set the tone for the entire session.

This was going to be good.
