Designers and Doll Owners Unite at METROCON: Amano’s World!!

Sep 04, 2006 18:31

At METROCON: Amano’s World, Asian Ball-Jointed Doll (commonly known as Dollfies) owners will be able to show off their designing skills with a new event! Taking place during the highly requested Dollfie panel at the October convention, this event will allow costumers to showcase their skill in creating small scale costumes.

The event, dubbed Project Dollfie: The Beauty of Amano, will be searching for original creations that showcase Yoshitaka Amano’s distinctive visual aesthetic (Click here for examples). Designers will also be expected to make their characters real by making up back stories and personalities! This tests the full creation inside and out. The design can be anything! The sky is the limit (just keep it PG-13, please)!

Designers will submit their character designs and images by the designated deadline, and from them, ten (10) finalists will be chosen by a pair of judges to create their design for the convention. The finalists will bring their completed designs to the panel on Saturday, October 14, at 4PM for judging. The winner of the competition will receive a special prize pack, including a certificate and doll-sized sash.

Project Dollfie will be judged by Jamie, aka Lolita Minako, and Amano’s World guest and fellow doll collector, Lauren Goodnight.

After the contest, the panel will continue with a general dollfie discussion and doll meet-up. Everyone who owns a doll, is interested in dolls, or is curious about them is welcome to attend!

Design submission deadline: September 15 (finalists will be notified by September 20)
Panel time: Saturday, October 14 at 4-6PM (Room TBA)

Please, e-mail all designs and characterizations (as well as any questions you may have) to lolita_minako@cosmicgeminicosplay.com, with the subject like, “Project Dollfie design submission.” Please make sure the images are attached in .jpg or .gif format with your name as the file name. This is to prevent confusion with judging. Also, include your name, the design’s name, and doll name/make/mold for the judges’ reference.

Thank you, and we cannot wait to see your beautiful designs!!!
