I'm listening to a severely awkward conversation...
There are bold statements being made,
words being tripped over...
overly interested nods and a string of 'okays' that hint to the lack thereof...
These people are older...
older as in the man is balding and philosophical--he talks about how some people are afraid of change, and the woman...she has short brown hair, black-rimmed glasses that make her appear more eloquent than she is.
Apparently she wrote him an e-mail asking to meet him...
he sees this as "out of the box"--
she's been a vegetarian since she was 14, influenced by a friend who had hippy parents.
They discussed Portland, but neither one knew it very well in that they didn't know the difference between Lloyd Center and Pioneer Place (referred to as Pioneer Square but in actuality is Lloyd Center).
Now I'm just sitting here watching the busses and cars drive by...heading home, to the grocery store, or perhaps out to dinner?
This is me studying...
Here we keep going with the vegetarian thing--I think he's going to cut her off again out of frustration for her roundabout-way of speaking...
He claims he is "good at getting to the point."
I think he's good at listening to himself talk.
Being here makes me happy that I am not in their place...that I have Jeff...
That I don't have to do that all over again...
not that it can't be fun, but I have the partner that fits me perfectly...
It's funny...yesterday he said to me...I get it, you are supposed to look for shapes not patterns (we were doing a puzzle)...and then I asked him if that was not what I had told him, and he replied that yes it was but he didn't listen to me (surprise surprise)...then he went on to say that patterns are deceiving and that many look alike, but shapes are very distinct, usually one-of-a-kind...
He needn't tell me this though...I've known this for a long time...
I always look for the pieces with the right shape not the right pattern...it's weird how the same principles apply to so many seemingly different things...
Now back blind-daters' conversation...
He's been all over Europe and Asia,
but surprise....never South America or Africa...
and says "I've traveled a little bit...."
ohhh stop it.
Oh yeah...and he's been to Everest...didn't climb it--just took slides.
I'm sure she's so impressed...I know I am.
