the yarn name game

Jun 25, 2015 16:00

Knitpicks has dramatically expanded the color offerings of their Alpaca Cloud laceweight yarn. In a first for KP, all the yarns are named for people rather than having more or less descriptive color names. I'm assuming all the names come from literary works in which people are likely to be wearing fancy shawls, since I see tons of Downton Abbey, Pride & Prejudice, and Sense & Sensibility names.

I'm not buying any yarn these days and I hardly even have time to knit (I'm working on a basic Gryffindor scarf for young Kal-El and it has taken me *months*), but for some reason it would please me to get all the names properly sorted into their respective works. And I think you all are just the crowd to do it.

I'll start out with the obvious, Pride & Prejudice: Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Bennet, Darcy, Bingley, Wickham. There is a Mary, but it's more likely to be Lady Mary from Downton, since Edith and Sybil are there, and it's certainly not a suitable color for Mary Bennet. No color for Kitty. There's a Charlotte, but does Charlotte Lucas merit a yarn? Also a Catherine, but I think that's more likely to be Catherine from Wuthering Heights, to go with Heathcliff.

Anyone else want to pick a work?
