an interesting resource

The Family Connections program of Boston Children's Hospital has a project called Tell Me A Story that trains Head Start teachers to help kids learn to talk about emotions, using kids' picture books to start discussion. Lots of interesting materials on that page, but the one I'm pointing out in particular is all the way down at the bottom of the page: you can download an illustrated children's book called When Mom Is Sad. It's a preschool age appropriate story about having a depressed parent. If you look right above it, there's also a very detailed book discussion guide, geared for preschool teachers but also useful for parents.
