well, I'm stumped

I can't recall the last time I had such trouble searching for something that should be obvious!

I'm trying to find the composer of a Whitman setting that I sang in choir back in college (this would have been somewhere between 1987-1989). The one I'm specifically interested in is "A Clear Midnight", but I think we also sang the first section of "Song of the Universal", and I think it was part of the same work or suite of works. Searching on those titles has gotten me nowhere, so I'm guessing the work has some generic name, or the name of yet another poem that I haven't remembered yet.

::comes back after another 30 minutes of searching::

Okay, now I'm more confused than ever. I thought maybe it was selections from Persichetti's Celebrations, because that setting of "Song of the Universal" was really familiar. But the tune for "A Clear Midnight" doesn't seem right at all. So maybe I'm just combining a piece that I've often heard (the Persichetti "Song") with a piece I actually sang (the mystery "Midnight"). Argh!

I can't believe there's no comprehensive list of Whitman choral settings on the web. (The one that comes up on ChoralNet is far from complete, from what I can glean.)

I'm so confused. Also, I'm old now.
