Andy has finished Kraken. I think he has a new Favorite Book Ever. If China Mieville had gotten Andy's name in a holiday fic exchange and written a book specifically for him, it would have been this book. So if you happen to read it, you can also consider it a chance to get to know all about my spouse and the stuff he likes.
Now I'm curious to read it -- not to find out what he likes, but to look for any fault lines: are there things in the book that would make me say, "How can you like a book with *this* in it? What were you thinking?" After 20 years we've both gotten so comfortable and familiar with each other, it's always intriguing to look for topics of disagreement and glimpses of conflicting views or assumptions.
