For those of you not watching fanarchive, the initial description of the proposed non-profit organization was just posted.
Although I don't care much one way or the other about a new archive, I *very* much want there to be an inviting, well-designed gateway to the world of fanfic -- a place that newcomers and the press would naturally be drawn to, where they could learn, in as much depth as they chose, what fanfic and other fan transformative works are all about, and I want this site to be run by fans. And if this place could also be a hub with lots of useful information/tools to offer for experienced fans, so much the better.
I think that the folks who are proposing to get this project started have as much expertise and social leverage as anyone could ever hope for. I think this could actually be it.
