(no subject)
Okay, the offspring's provisional nickname is Chuckles. One bonus is that those of you for whom "Chuckles" evokes, say, a seedy middle-aged clown rather than a cheery toddler can just abbreviate it "C." and mentally substitute her other name.
Anyway, Chuckles is esconced on the couch with her brand-new soot sprite (or "spider", as she insists), watching the Kamaji & soot sprite scene from Red Girl. Thanks so much, rachelmanija! When we opened the package, her eyes got really wide, but she wasn't sure what it was at first. I asked her, and she said "I don't know what that thing is called!" Then I showed her the tag with Chihiro on it, and it clicked: "It's a SPIDER!" She wanted me to skip to that specific scene on the DVD. (She also asked "What's that all over the tag?" and I tried to explain about Japanese being a different language, but I don't think much sunk in.)
