note: OH NOES, UNDERAGE DRINKING. also, blatant ignorance of how Sanada and Nozawa are actually like, mainly using fic from Chiharu to figure out characterization. yeah I know, I suck. for
blahchiharu and
ssm_kiyumi , because come on man, it's Sanazawa.
To Nozawa’s rather unsurprised chagrin, Sanada indeed ends up drunk.
“Sana-kun,” he huffs as the other boy rolls about in a fit of giggles. “Oh for - Sana-kun!” Sanada stops, and for a brief moment Nozawa is almost certain that his voice has finally gotten through. A moment. And another. Sanada blinks owlishly at him, before reaching out to paw clumsily at his cheeks. A stupid smile spreads across his face.
“Naaa, Nokkun,” he slurs. “Dun be angreeee~”
Nozawa sighs for the 32nd time that night and, as Sanada’s hands start flapping around his shoulders, decides that enough was enough.
“I’m taking Sana-kun home,” he announces over the slew of celebrations surrounding him, while Kawai attempts to pour plum wine down Hasshi’s shirt and Taipi conducts the rest of Mis Snow Man plus one Tanaka Jyuri in a rousing rendition of “99 Bottles of Beer”. Kitayama, perhaps the last sane one standing, smiles understandingly at him.
“Be careful on your way home, ne,” he says, and Nozawa sighs again.
“I’ll try,” he replies, gesturing wearily at Sanada - who was currently attempting to braid his hair - and Kitayama gives a small chuckle.
When they finally get bundled up and out into the chilly night air, Sanada’s immediate reaction is to bury himself into Nozawa’s shoulder with a whine. “It’s cooold, Nokkun~!”
“It’d be colder when I finally leave you in a ditch,” Nozawa mutters, ignoring the shiver that runs through him when Sanada starts to nuzzle his neck. “Come on, before we both freeze out here.”
They barely make it past five meters before Sanada starts on another drunken tangent. “Naa, Nokkun, I made a rhyme for you,” he says happily. “More than umeshu, I like you~” He looks up to give that stupid grin again, and this time Nozawa feels his face heat up. “D’ya like it? I thought it was reallll cool.”
Nozawa thinks that perhaps that a bit of the sake is starting to work on him, because he feels a smile starting to inch onto his face. “Yeah, it’s cute. I like it,” he says, and Sanada’s grin turns triumphant. For a while they continue to trudge on in silence, punctuated only by soft “oof”s whenever Sanada knocks against him. It lasts for ten minutes before he pipes up again.
“Naa, naa, Nokkun,” he says slowly, sneakily linking their arms together. “Then do you like me too?” And Nozawa stops in his tracks, all rational thought screeching to a halt. Suddenly everything comes to him in an aching keenness, the cold air on his cheeks, their breath fogging in front of them, the bluish white light of the street lamps, and Sanada’s face, flushed red, wide-eyed. “Nokkun? Did you hear me?”
It’s okay, he thinks to himself. It’s the new year, and by morning the sun will erase everything that happened at 2 a.m. along a deserted street. Sanada is drunk, it’s freezing and no one will remember everything, except as a joke and the first instance of member ai in the year. He takes a deep breath, but his voice still comes out shaking. “Yeah,” he whispers, looking at his shoes. “I like you a lot, Sana-kun.”
“Good,” he hears Sanada say, surprisingly lucid and tender and suddenly directly in front of him, eyes bright, smile gentle, taking his face in his hands and Nozawa can only think about how warm his hands are, and how soft. “Because I like you way more than the umeshu.”
Sanada’s lips taste like chocolate, sweet wine and plums, and as Nozawa slips into the pleasant sensation of floating on air, he thinks that perhaps he’s the one who’s been drunk all this time instead.

Umeshu is plum wine, and the only type of alcohol that rhymes with You.
