Shadowlands last night was brilliant. It was about C.S. Lewis and the woman he loved. Oh, I cried for a good portion of the second half. The acting was fabulous, and the story was very touching. I was lucky enough to be able to bring Nicole with me, and she seemed pleased at how pleasant the night was. I was too. After the show we got to meet Janie Dee, the woman who played Joy Lewis in the play. She was fabulous. There was a question and answer session for everyone there who was from Mousetrap and I asked the first question. Janie played an American woman from New York in the 1950s, so, as an American, I asked what kind of training went into her accent. She seemed nervous knowing there were real Americans in the crowd, and after she answered she asked if it was realistic. It was, and so I told her so.
After the show Nicole and I headed back to Notting Hill Gate and met up with Devin and his parents, who I got Wicked tickets for, for a couple of drinks at the Old Swan. They were lovely, and Mr. Wallace bought Nicole and I a few rounds. We both had two Strongows and were drunk. Fab. We all talked about going on the Jack The Ripper Tour together tonight, followed by a trip to the Ice Bar, a bar made entirely of ice. Visitors are given a parka to wear while inside because the bar is kept at -3 Celcius. It should be a really good night.
I'm trying to get tickets to see The Sea today so that I can go the same night at the theatre class. Hopefully I can. Also, Nicole and I get to cater Jeremy's birthday. I am very excited about that. We're going to try to get him tickets to see Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest for his birthday since we just finished Dorian Gray. We're also going to get ourselves tickets for the same night. How tricky we are.
I'm getting a little tired of people I don't like trying to make me get them theatre tickets. First of all, that isn't my job. Second of all, you're rude about it. Third, I don't want to... I don't even like you. Like yesterday, Hans and I were in the tech room at Birkbeck and he turns to me and says "MacKenzie, Wicked Tickets, April whatever-it-was" and I said "what about them?" He said "I need them." Well too bad, I can't get them for you. Then last night, when Devin and Nicole and I got home from the pub, he very sternly said to be "I need that offer book from you tomorrow." Excuse me? I think not. Or Creepy Joe, got real close to me in the tube and said "I'm going to get tickets off you before the end of the program." Really? Are you now? Ugh. Ok... that's my little rant. Now to work.
