So the earthquake woke me up at 4am and try as I might I couldn't sleep so at 5am I officially got up.
When I got to the Borders at 6am I was expecting either a long ass line or no one. In the end, it was neither. There were about 5 kids standing outside and a few others [but turned out they were employees]. So the line began.
A few minutes or so later another girl showed up and we began to talk a bit. Turns out she already read the leaked copy but wanted the real book as it is easier to read. A bit later another girl showed up and joined our lively conversation. Around 7pm the line had about 14 people in it and kept growing. Some people walking by gave us curious looks but others knew it was about HP. One woman thought it had to do with the earthquake.
By 8am when they finally opened the doors, the line was much longer--maybe 40+. But I don't care--I got my armband! I was originally number 6 in line but switched with one of the girls I met to be number 7. The second girl who had shown up [her name is Phon] joined me for the walk back up Powell after I waited for her to run a quick errand in Borders. Hooray! HP helps folks make friends!
To keep a low profile I was not festively dressed, but one guy came in professor robes and another girl had lots of HP items on. I'll post pics later.
Now it's time for a nap--as waking up early can take a lot out of a girl.
