More sweet than bitter at the moment, too. I'm enjoying classes, I'm enjoying my house, for the moment, all is calm. And Marisa Monte released a new CD last week! Lagniappe.
Oh, and I really liked that Beyonce the Vampire Slayer fic.
I'm so glad things are calm and OK! and new Marisa Monte!
Apparently Gilberto Gil played an acoustic set here last week, which I didn't learn about until too late, and he closed with my all-time favorite ever, Aquele Abraco. I seriously devote most of a lecture in Intro to Latin American History to that song, as a way of thinking about accommodation and resistance in the era of Southern Cone dictatorship; I have been obsessed with that song for years; I missed hearing him play it. Well, shit.
But I'm so glad you liked that fic. It's a good combination of nutiness with decent writing and serious love for the canon(s) it mashes together. Oh fanfic, how are you so satisfying sometimes?
It's not quite so warm up here but surprisingly comfy for November. We know it won't last but since winter is such a long, hard season, we'll take any lingering autumn warmth!
I'm glad your recovery continues so well - I have to admit that I regard my own reproductive system with a jaundiced eye and wouldn't mind some intervention on that front but there's no pressing need, at least not yet.
Ooooh, perfect icon! And oh yeah, it will be deep winter soon enough, and spring is a long way away; we'll cling to this last bit of fall as long as we can. The ground isn't even frozen yet, down here ... it's amazing really.
Things are pretty much the way they were last time we talked, only I'm a little more serene about it. Don't know if that's good or bad for me in the long term.
I did seize some time to do some baking over the weekend: 24 hour bread and some ersatz HobNobs, that were too buttery to taste like HobNobs but very good if you like the taste of browned butter.
Is there anyone on this planet who does not love the taste of browned butter? Well, it's a big planet, so probably someone somewhere. But they're wrong.
And serenity seems like a good thing, probably? Under the difficult circumstances?
Wow---18 lbs. of water lost! Dear God, no wonder you felt so poorly. And what a great improvement that must be!
I'm so pleased that the hysterectomy has done everything you hoped for from it, and more. That is truly good news. And the nice fall weather doesn't hurt.
We have Pirate's daughter visiting us this week with her young man; they're interviewing and looking around here for what they might want to do after graduation. Every time she mentions your town, she makes me think of you and look forward even more to seeing you. Two weeks from tomorrow, yay!
Yeah, it's just amazing. I was already feel weird and low-energy last summer, when last we saw each other - now I'm all bouncy. Well, except that I really am still healing, and sometimes I run out of energy very suddenly. My days look like this:
Who knew that having a hysterectomy would turn me into a toddler?
+++++
I was most impressed with both Pirate Junior and her feller when I met them last month. So smart and nice and well-organized. Tell them I said hello! And YAY! I will see you in two weeks! *SO* looking forward to it.
