In honor of the season premiere of Damages, even if I haven't seen it yet...
kiki_miserychic's study of Ray Fiske's arc. This vid is so lyrical and heartbreaking. Seriously, this is why I love vidding, right here. Every unexpected but pitch perfect cut or movement; this vid pulls you along and pulls you in. Even if you haven't watched Damages (and don't mind being spoiled for earlier seasons... so in other words, if you weren't planning on watching Damages. Though you should really watch Damages, because it is such an unsung amazing show.)
But anyway, what I'm trying to say is, watch this vid.
eta: In rewatching, I think it's the pacing and rhythm of the edits that gets to me, and the way the argument builds through this release of images with the piano. It's like the argument unfolds, and makes absolute sense as a reading of Ray, and yet also feels unexpected at the same time because of the way it's paced to keep you waiting for more. My favorite moment may be the cut to Frobisher at the race track; Frobisher truly was Ray's downfall, but then perhaps really Ray was Ray's downfall.
