Oh my freaking heavens. You know how I said that laser hair removal hurts worse than just snapping your skin with a rubber band, which is how people always describe it? Well, sometimes it hurts much, MUCH worse than that. Ow. Ow ow ow. Ow.
I had a different nurse today, my normal one being on vacation in Greece. (How do we feel about the grammaticality of constructions like that?) This nurse apparently believes in aggressive treatment. Interestingly, she's the first person at this clinic to mention to me that I have the option of numbing my skin with an ice pack before getting the procedure. I did that, and she turned the laser way up. Way up. Ow. Have I said ow? Because, ow. I had to stop her several times so that I could re-ice my arms, and after she did the first one (the right), I asked her to turn the laser down some. She still kept it higher than I'd had before, but at least it's only my right arm that's still hurting now, THREE HOURS after the procedure.
She kept saying, "It's worth it, it's worth it." She swears that next time I'll come in and ask to have the laser cranked up.
I have my doubts.
