They never actually told us what happens "The more you know," did they? I think the conclusion we were supposed to draw was, "The more you know, the more successful you will be on the job market," or "The more you know, the better your life will be in some intangible way." But what if the commercials were some sinister plot by an anti-knowledge group? What if the real conclusion is, "The more you know, the faster you will be shot when the Arbeiter revolt"? Or perhaps the people who made those commercials were the only ones who knew, "The more you know, the more likely you are to develop a brain tumor."
At the very least, I'm pretty sure it's true that, "The more you know, the more likely you are to suffer from insomnia."
Seriously, was there a very early commercial that actually told us the conclusion, or were we always just expected to assume that knowledge led to good things?
