I just watched the movie Doubt. Here are my complaints:
-Could we cut back on the pathetic fallacy, please? The winds keep changing: I get it.
-I could also have done without the literal cat-and-mouse bit.
-Most importantly, I think the director could have taken the same dialog and made Sister Aloysius less horrible and Father Flynn less sympathetic/charismatic. The movie (play) is supposed to be about, well, uncertainty. The whole time through, we should be wondering whether he really did it. Instead, we find ourselves rooting for Father Flynn and almost convinced that Sister Aloysius is wrong. I think that should have been played differently.
However, I do think it's an interesting movie, and Phillipp Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, and Viola Davis all gave great performances. I recommend viewing it. I just also recommend reaching for more popcorn during the stormy weather scenes.
